About this property

Newtonmore 3 miles. This very well-presented log cabin is situated in a stunning open setting in a quiet site with direct access to the woods, close to the village of Newtonmore, in the Cairngorms National Park. A real home-from-home this cabin is ideal for a couple on a romantic break, a family group or group of friends who will all love the peaceful ambience of the location and appreciate the luxury of a private hot tub from which the surrounding hills can be fully appreciated whilst sipping a glass of something sparkling. The comfortable living area has a touch of welcoming tartan and a very well-equipped kitchen where tasty meals can be easily prepared. There are two smart bedrooms. French doors from the sitting area give direct access onto the decked balcony which is a perfect spot for a quiet read or pre-dinner glass of wine, along with a dip in the hot tub. The Cairngorm National Park is a truly magical location for a holiday as it offers everything you would expect of the largest national park in the United Kingdom. Aviemore is close by and offers a diverse range of activities for all ages. Skiiing, of course, in the winter time along with mountain biking, pony trekking, archery, quad bike trails, sled dog riding and so much more. Wildlife lovers will be in their element here as the high mountains and ancient forests attract wildcats, capercaillie and pine martens along with golden eagles too. Be sure to take a ride up the Cairngorm Mountain on the Funicular Railway as no matter what the weather the view is magnificent. A wonderful holiday location with something for everyone and a top notch holiday home to return to and relax in at the end of a busy day with a soak in your own wonderful hot tub.

Overlooking the River Spey, in the Cairngorms National Park (Britain's largest), Newtonmore has several shops and pubs, as well as two excellent, award-winning museums - the Highland Folk Museum and Clan MacPherson Museum. Newtonmore's Wildcat Trail is a popular, 7-mile circular walk around the edge of the village, taking in the River Spey with woodland, moorland and wonderful views across the valley to the Cairngorms, and behind the village to the Monadhliath Mountains.

Temperatures were often sub zero but the lodge quickly warmed up (probably better insulated than our home!) with the main fire a great focal point. Both the kitchen and bathroom looked as good as new and could not be faulted. The various birds and red squirrels kept us amused as they fed just outside the kitchen window. We completed some nice local walks (eg Centre of Scotland Stone) as well as exploring further afield to the Cairngorm mountains, Aviemore and Dalwhinnie. Thanks to Lynn for ensuring all was well, and the shortbread biscuits!

Perfect location for exploring the highlands. The lodge had everything we needed and the hot tun was the added bonus. The owner was lovely and checked we were ok, left us a welcome hamper and came mid week to refill and check the hot tub. We spotted Deer, Red Squirrel, a Woodpecker and lots of other birds on the feeder outside the lodge and bird feed was even left so we could top this up

The welcome pack was a lovely addition as were the tablets for the dishwasher. Also the opportunity to buy souvenirs was a nice touch. Couldn't recommend this lodge highly enough. The site was nice and quiet and the daily visit from the red squirrels was lovely.
