Jubilee Cottage in Portree is highly praised for its stunning location, offering peacefulness and beautiful views over the bay. Guests appreciate the friendly and accommodating owners, comfortable accommodation, and the added delight of wildlife sightings. The enclosed garden is a hit with pet owners, and the thoughtful touches like homemade cakes enhance the welcoming atmosphere.

The cottage generally receives positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it lovely and clean. However, one mention of dog hairs suggests room for improvement, leading to a slightly reduced score.

The location is consistently lauded for its beauty, tranquillity, and proximity to local amenities. The sea views and wildlife sightings contribute to an exceptional rating.

Facilities are well-regarded, with the cottage being described as fully equipped and having everything needed. Some minor suggestions for improvements like faster internet and a hairdryer prevent a perfect score.

The owners' thoughtfulness is evident through the frequent mentions of homemade cakes and biscuits. While these treats are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, though common, cannot be guaranteed for every stay.

The Cottage is a comfortable size with 3 large bedrooms and two separate living areas. The open plan kitchen doubles up as a cosy lounge area with wood burning stove and large screen television with DVD player and an intertaining selection of dvd's. We could also use the guest accounts to access YouTube and Prime, nothing too fancy but up to date enough for cosy nights in and the Wifi speed is very good if that matters to you. The bedrooms are set up with comfortable beds and bedding. They comprise two double beds and two single beds. The rooms have storage for clothing and lovely big bath sheets and hand towels towels are provided. The shower over the spa bath allows for both quick showers and warm baths to soaking off the day's walks. The house has a WC downstairs for the comfort of avoiding bathroom ques. The enclosed patio room with large windows and skylights is decorated with a dining table and comfortable chairs to spend time staring out over the magnificent view of the ocean, right on your doorstep, the surrounding cliffs, watching the impressive ferry as it goes to and fro and watching the sea life on display we specifically saw a large variety of birds, seals and a pod of porpoises. If like me, you enjoy watching dramatic weather changes, sunsets and the stars, hoping for a glimpse of the northern lights, then you'll spend most of your time in this space or at the table playing boardgames and cards with your kids. We brought our own but the cottage has a good selection of these too. We had exceptional weather for this time of the year wich allowed for day trips that varied between 30-60min drives to attractions like Fairy Pool, old man Storr and Quiraing, Duvegan Castle (closed this time of the year), etc. The cottage has a large private garden that's enclosed all the way around, however if you have small dogs they will be able to escape through the fences. The area is rural with sheep grazing all over. The ferry port, local Brewery and Uig Pottery, local shop and restaurant is walking distance from the cottage. However keep in mind that most restaurants and attractions that require human intervention is closed at this time of the year as peak season for the area is summer. We did our main supply shop in Potree at the large Co-Op. It's on your wat out of Portree as you head towards Uig and we topped up from the local shops on essentials like wood, kindling, milk, etc. Our hosts provided us the warmest welcome with a fire going on arrival and a good starter kit of wood and kindling, along with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and a variety of generous Christmas goodies and doggy treats making us feel extremely welcome. The hosts are easy to communicate with and generous with their hospitality. The cottage is private while at the same time forming part of a well maintained camping site on its doorstep with motor home fascilities, campsites with electricity and ablusion. So if your more inclined to glamp or have friends or family that want to join you, the same owners run Uig Bay Campsite.
