Generously gifted to the international wildlife charity Born Free Foundation as part of a legacy, the proceeds from your booking at Cnoc na Gaoithe in this scenic corner of Scotland will contribute to their vital conservation and welfare work to protect endangered and mistreated animals all over the world. Featuring contemporary and homely interiors with welcome features such as a woodburning stove, a utility room and ground-floor living, this charming cottage is perfect for a variety of groups. Be welcomed into the entrance area before making your way into the lovely sitting room, with two sofas adorned in classic tartan throws, a wall-mounted TV and a woodburning stove, it is the perfect environment to unwind after a day outdoors, while a pretty window seat area offers a lovely spot to admire the views over the loch. Venture into the kitchen/diner to find a white fitted kitchen equipped with everything you could need, with laundry appliances resting in the utility room, and a dining table and chairs positioned in the window.

Take the timber stairs up the first floor to find the lovely twin bedroom, with dual aspect Velux windows illuminating the space with natural light. Back on the ground floor, find two double bedrooms along with two shower room, so there's plenty of space for all to rest and then get ready in the morning before the day's activities begin. The garden offers a delightful place to enjoy the views of the water and enjoy the fresh air, with picnic benches for warmer days. Walkers can look forward to many dramatic hikes up the surrounding mountains such as the Old Man of Storr, The Storr, Beinn Edram and Quiraing, with the spectacular views well worth the effort to reach the top. Visit the beautiful observation point of Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls to see for yourself the panoramic views of waterfalls, cliffs and seascapes, offering a great stop to incorporate into a coastal walk. Make a trip over to Coral Beach in Claigan to enjoy the secluded shores with clear blue waters to watch the sea birds and seals before walking out to the little island at low tide. The nearest town to the cottage is Portree where you can find plenty of shops for all your self-catering needs, along with friendly pubs and bars to enjoy, well established restaurants and some heritage too at the Skye and Lochalsh Archive Centre. Admire the colourful houses down by Portree Harbour and take a stroll up to The Lump offering a great vantage point for views of the harbour and home to a 19th century watchtower. Be sure to find time to visit the Gavin Maxwell Museum, situated on the tiny Island of Eilean Bàn, midway between the mainland and the Isle of Skye. This charming town rests around a natural harbour and offers a great base for adventures across this scenic part of the UK and the world. Portree is home to a good selection of shops, pubs, cafés and restaurants, and is near to the A87 which connects visitors easily to the mainland at the crossing of Kyle of Lochalsh.
