With the golden sands and crystal-clear waters of Polin Beach within a short walk, days by the sea are made easy; Oldshoremore Beach (1 mile) offers another stunning shoreline. More coastal adventures await at must-see Handa Island, where you’ll have the chance to spot puffins, whales and dolphins while onboard a passenger ferry departing from Tarbet (18 miles). Closer to home, lovers of the outdoors are totally spoiled for walking and cycling trails as well as water sports opportunities, rock climbing and fishing. Golf enthusiasts can enjoy a round at the most north-westerly course in mainland Britain at Durness Golf Club (23 miles), while a more unique adventure awaits at Smoo Cove (22.5 miles).
Before stepping into this whitewashed cottage, take a moment to appreciate its stunning coastal position surrounded by rugged hills and glimpses of the ocean. Inside, the interior has been modernised with neutral tones and thoughtful furnishings to offer a cosy but spacious home-from-home feel. Kick off sandy shoes in the entrance, then walk through to the sitting room to unwind after days of adventure; sink into the comfortable sofas, flick on the TV and fire up the wood burner. When stomachs rumble, you’ll find everything needed in the spacious kitchen/diner to cook up Scottish feasts, which can be enjoyed at the dining table indoors or alfresco-style out on the patio. At the end of each busy day away, a choice of three charming bedrooms awaits, the first of which is on the ground floor – a master king-size room alongside a well-appointed family bathroom. The remaining two bedrooms are upstairs beneath the sloping eaves of the property: a twin room and a cosy single, both served by a shower room.
Make full use of the peaceful outdoor space, starting with quiet morning coffees on the bench to the front of the cottage. To the rear, an enclosed lawned garden rolls away from a patio area, offering the perfect spots for littles ones and pets to play while adults sip evening tipples and prepare al fresco meals. Enjoy the wonderful beach views from the end of the garden. Guests will also benefit from an outhouse with utilities, secure storage for outdoor gear, and private parking for two cars.
