In 1819 the waters were pronounced to be the healthiest in Britain and visitors to the town can still sample their delights in the old pump house. There are numerous walks around the area and the mountains of Glen Affric and the North West Highlands are close by. There is also good fishing to be enjoyed on lochs or rivers. The old Victorian Railway Station in Strathpeffer now serves as the Highland Museum of Childhood and no doubt will spark many memories. It is also home to local craft workers and shops selling their wares. A great base for exploring this lovely region.
