Fernabeg is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its cleanliness, peaceful location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the modern kitchen, cosy living room, and the garden space. The property serves as an excellent base for exploring the Highlands, with thoughtful touches like a welcoming gift enhancing the experience.
Guests consistently describe the property as immaculate, indicating a very high level of cleanliness throughout the cottage.
The peaceful setting with views of the Dornoch Firth Bridge and proximity to Tain and Dornoch are highly valued, though one mention of a nearby train suggests a slight disturbance.
The property is frequently described as cosy, warm, and welcoming. However, some guests noted that the living room seating may not accommodate larger parties comfortably.
The well-appointed kitchen and utility room are appreciated, but guests mention challenges with the oven and a preference for additional showers and bedroom amenities like waste paper baskets and dressing mirrors.
While guests mention a welcoming gift and the provision of essentials, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of these thoughtful gestures across all stays. It should be noted that such gifts are a kind bonus and not guaranteed.

We had a Fantastic Stay as a family of 3. The house was perfect with everything we needed and more. A lovely modern kitchen and a cosy living room for relaxing in the evening. The location is peaceful and beautiful with a view of the Dornoch Firth Bridge. I would recommend the house to families, couples or profesionals. Michelle the local contact was friendly and kind, Check in was a breeze and we were provided with all the information we needed before arriving. Excellent value for money and i would recommend the house to family and friends.

We arrived at 'Fernabeg', in the village of Edderton, on Friday evening after a long journey up from North Yorkshire. The property was immaculate and we were greeted with a nice little welcoming gift. We were also pleased to find that a lot of the 'essentials' were provided. The property is in a very peaceful spot (barring the occasional train passing nearby) and provided a great base for our week of adventures. On the ground floor the house has a living room, dining room, kitchen, utility room, double bedroom and en-suite shower/toilet. The 1st floor has three bedrooms - a double bed in one room, two singles in another and bunk beds in the third bedroom. There is also a separate bathroom (no shower) on this floor. There is a lawned garden which wraps around the property and a gravel driveway with room to park at least two cars. The rear of the property offers a glimpse of Dornoch Bridge and the Dornoch Firth. Balblair Distillery is also a short walk/stagger away. The only slight fly in the ointment was Storm Floris, which hit us on the Monday and took out the electricity supply as well as bringing a tree down on the main route into and out of the village. The cooker in the property is fully electric so we had no means of cooking or boiling water for the prerequisite 'cuppa'. Fortunately we had enough 'nibbles' in to see the storm out before we were able/willing to venture back outside.Michelle, the lovely lady who looks after Fernabeg, lives nearby and very kindly braved the horrendous wind and rain to bring us a couple of flasks of boiling water and some candles (with matches) to help make the evening more bearable. The town of Tain is a short (5-10 minutes) drive away and, although looking a bit rundown, has various supermarkets, a lovely bakery (Harry Gow) and some nice eateries - we had a lovely meal at Platform 1864 which has delicious food, excellent service from the friendly staff and all for a reasonable price (£132 for 4 x 2 course meals including 4 drinks plus 1 dessert). Dornoch is a similar distance away and is a much prettier town with Scotland's smallest cathedral although it does not have the supermarkets that Tain has. We were very fortunate to visit Dornoch on the Saturday as they have a bagpipe parade in the square on a Saturday evening which also includes a bit of Scottish dancing - what a great bonus to start our holiday.All-in-all Fernabeg was a perfect base for our holiday and meant that we could enjoy our days out knowing that we would be returning to a lovely, warm and welcoming house. If we venture up that way again then we would have no qualms about staying here again. It made for a wonderful week away in the Highlands.
