Gladstone Cottage receives high praise for its comfort, cleanliness, and well-equipped facilities. Hosts Jan and Allan are commended for their hospitality. The property boasts a lovely garden and is well-situated for exploring Caithness and Orkney. Local amenities and eateries are appreciated, and the area's scenery is admired. Some guests mention the proximity to the road and minor issues, but overall experiences are very positive.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as very clean, indicating meticulous maintenance. The repeated commendations for cleanliness suggest a high standard upheld by the hosts.
The location is praised for its convenience to local amenities, scenic beauty, and proximity to places of interest. However, one review mentions the cottage being too close to the road, which slightly impacts the score.
The cottage is frequently described as comfortable, warm, and cosy, with a spacious layout and a garden that adds to the overall comfort for guests and their pets.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with mentions of a well-equipped kitchen and thoughtful amenities. Some minor critiques about specific aspects, such as heating distribution and furniture, prevent a perfect score.
While the reviews reflect the hosts' thoughtfulness in providing a well-equipped cottage and local recommendations, there are no specific mentions of gifts. Therefore, it is not possible to score this category.

Another great stay at Gladstone Cottage. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped as usual with friendly and thoughfull owners nearby. The local walks, especially to the beautiful beach, are perfect for us and our two energetic dogs. There's a really nice dog friendly pub/restaurant within a short walk.Looking forward to returning.

This property is in an ideal location if you want a base for the NC500. It has pretty much every you need and milk, teabags and coffee was provided on arrival. The property appears to be part of the property next door, leaving a small but functional kitchen which is accessed directly from the front door, a large living which is access directly from the back door. A long hallway from which the bedroom, shower room.. and toilet are accessible. Things to note - we went in December, it was extremely cold, moving from one room to the next was awful due to this, there is no heating in the toilet. The shower room is more of a bedroom with a shower in the corner and a sink, with a wardrobe, shelves etc. In there, however, we could not locate a plug socket to use a hairdryer. In the bedroom there was no mirror. While there were roller blinds and 'black out' curtains, there is a street light right outside the bedroom window which does shine through a gap in the curtain right opposite the bed which is annoying if you're used to sleeping in total darkness. As we went in December we had taken extra throws with us, luckily as the quilt was quite thin and only a small itchy blanket at the bottom of the bed.The pictures on the website were taken some time ago I imagine or are not of the property we stayed in as the furniture is different. The cottage is for 2 people, however has a huge 6 seat dining table in the middle of the living room and an iron burn on the carpet.Generally, it was an okay stay, with a visit from the owners who live next door, however not somewhere we personally would revisit.
