Elgin is Scotland’s smallest city hosting many attractions in an Area of Outstanding Beauty. Nestled along the banks of the River Lossie, the city has grown and flourished and has grand stone buildings and of course the famous cathedral which dates back to the 13th century. Other places of interest in the area include many distilleries, Elgin Museum and Baxters of Fochabers. For walkers, the Speyside Way footpath provides a network of paths with sea views.

Short walk to town centre. Designated parking space was very useful. There was a lot of kitchen equipment, meaning it was difficult to find enough storage space for our own food. It was good to have a large fridge/freezer. We couldn’t find information about bin collection day, but spotted when neighbours put theirs out. Couldn’t get washing machine to work as instructions incomplete, so rang owner to find out. We do not have sky at home, and there were no instructions. Took a couple of days to work out how to use the various remotes, but never managed to get tv in bedroom to work. Enjoyed our stay very much, loved visiting the coastal villages and lovely beaches. Enjoyed the lack of traffic, easy and free parking, and lots of loos! Elgin cathedral very interesting. Would like to explore more of this coastline.

Every little thing had been thought of and provided. The house was spotless and so comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning to book again for next year. Elgin is a good base for touring the local area as it’s central to many places and there is also a good train line for the days you want to give the car a rest.
