Lamlash is possibly the prettiest village on Arran and only a short drive from the island capital of Brodick. There is a golf club and yacht club in Lamlash, and the opportunity to take a wee ferry across to Holy Isle for an adventure back in time. Being based in Lamlash means you can explore this brilliant island very easily. Known as Scotland in miniature, you can see dramatic coastlines, mountain peaks, beautiful beaches and majestic forests all in one day. It has an amazing food scene and there are distilleries for to sample a local drink or two. Even though close to the mainland and not far from Glasgow and Edinburgh, Arran feels like it is a world away. A stay at Anchorage Cottage will make you feel like you have truly escaped the hustle and bustle of modern life. Beach 50 yards. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

We visited Anchorage cottage on the Isle of Arran at Lamlash. On entering our accommodation it was a lovely space, amazing views, well organised and a great position. There was privacy and we weren’t overlooked. This we could not fault however the cleanliness was a bit of a letdown. The tracking on the front door was absolutely filthy and it looked like it never been touched the same with the back door near the conservatory. The window ledges and windows all outside were mucky, inside the property there was dust on the blinds and there were dead daddy long legs. The bin outside had not been emptied. They were full to the brim. We followed the instructions that were put up on the kitchen door unit. We eventually found the cork board with all the notes in the utility area of how to use electrical appliances, it would be useful if they were put with other instructions. Part of the instructions said when to use the tumble dryer to make sure that the dust fluff section was emptied clearly people hadn’t done that in the past and it was full of dust and hadn’t been checked. It said we would receive a hamper but what we got was a bottle of wine with a postcard that was not a hamper that was disappointing. There was food underneath the cushions on the sofa in the conservatory whether you pay £100 a week or 1000 a week or more the property should be like a show home before you stay there please take these notes on board and hope this can be addressed for future holidays. Because of the amazing views, we rate this four out of five.

Fantastic cottage, comfy and well laid out, nice views, easy access to beach (with seals) but still near shops etc. Had a fantastic stay.
