Please note: There are steps and slopes in the garden and the driveway is shared.. Craegard House is a traditional red sandstone detached house with sea views across the Firth of Clyde. The property sits within a large enclosed garden where guests can relax and enjoy the views. Behind the house is Craigard Cottage (UKA407) which sleeps four guests and has been renovated in the same style as the house.
The property is fresh and bright and has been furnished to provide all the comforts you need for your holiday. A wood burner in the kitchen and living/dining room provide an attractive focal point and a cosy feel for the cooler evenings. The living/dining room overlooks the front garden and across to the sea. This allows guests to dine together with a view. There is one bedroom and shower room on the ground floor, which could be suitable for guests with limited mobility. The bedrooms all provide plenty of storage and still have their original fireplace recesses. The upstairs bedrooms have a sea view and are very spacious. The bathroom upstairs has a roll-top bath which is a great way of relaxing after a day’s walking. Outside the property there is a picnic table for guests to use and the large garden is fully enclosed. The garden has a tiered area at the top with steps leading down to the flat grassed area. This is a great place for children and all the family to enjoy some outside fun together. The entrance porch and utility room provide space for storing outdoor gear.
For walking enthusiasts the property is situated close to the Corrie route to the summit of Goatfell and other walking trails. If you enjoy looking for wildlife, seals and otters can often be seen from the windows and the occasional basking shark. Craegard House is located in the peaceful village of Corrie which has a children’s play park and a hotel serving food and drink and offers regular live music. The main village on the island, Brodick is just 6 miles away.

This is our second stay - the house is in a fantastic peaceful location beneath the Corrie ascent to Goatfell. The house is very comfortable however it could do with a little TLC with some areas looking tired.A tricky lock on the back door and wobbly taps in the bathroom had not been fixed from our last visit 2 years ago. More importantly the bathroom drain outside the kitchen window was blocked on arrival, though this was attended to very quickly when we reported it. Having said that we would definitely rebook in the future and had a wonderful time.

What a location! This is a great property to explore the island from and watch the world go by. This was the second time we have stayed. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the property on this occasion, and the standard that it is in. The dated COVID signage which stresses the added precautions for cleaning and requested vacation an hour earlier than cotages.com does on the booking adds insult to injury. This highlights how little the property is kept up to date. There was litter on the drive and in the garden when we arrived. Dried food under the dining table in the form of dried chips and wrappers just under the sofa. The floors were sopping wet when we arrived, presumably from a splash and dash mopping. I had requested a high chair and cot with the booking, neither were out whereas they had been set up last year when we stayed. Not a huge problem, but the travel cot had a damaged base and I had to chisel dried baby food from the high chair before my child could use it. There is black mould throughout the downstairs bathroom particularly on the ceiling above the shower. The drains take forever to drain from the shower as well. Mattresses have seen better days, as has the sofa. Stay if you want a great location, don’t if you want comfort and cleanliness.
