Walkers of all levels will also enjoy the many forest trails and coastal paths that wind across the island.
For history lovers, Brodick Castle and its beautifully maintained gardens offer a window into Arran’s past, while Machrie Moor, with its mysterious standing stones, provides a glimpse into the island’s ancient heritage. Arran is also a haven for food and drink lovers. From artisan cheese and handmade chocolates to locally brewed beer and whisky, the island’s produce is celebrated and widely available. Visitors can sample these delights at the Arran Distillery in Lochranza or one of the many farmers’ markets and eateries scattered across the island.
Whether you’re looking for relaxation, adventure, or a bit of both, Tanglewood provides the perfect base to explore everything the Isle of Arran has to offer. We had an excellent time in Arran. This is a good Good size of property for eight.Similar to previous reviews we found an abundance of kitchen utensils, at times far too many. The problem was that because of the extent of the items, many were very dirty on arrival.. That is not a criticism of the owner, just previous occupiers who left plates, utensils, mugs and glasses all very dirty. Not a great start to a holiday. There are about 20 large plates but one large saucepan. No basics on arrival or welcome pack. Toilet roll is also insufficient for guests for the week so bring your own.The location is very good although you will need to walk extensively if you want to walk to a coffee shop or restaurant. Beds are fairly comfortable and the upstairs living room has great views, although over a short time the view of the Firth of Clyde will be blocked shortly, owing to the levels of trees. There is a good small games room with pool and dartboard and a superb coastal map of Scotland on the wall, which is a nice touch. Decking is nice, but needs a lot of upgrading in relation to regular treatment. Table outside is of good quality. Access in and out of the Dining Room to this area is not easy for younger or older guests either. This is a good property, just needing a number of modernisations in relation to furniture, furnishings and decking to be in line with the pricing it demands, compared to other properties across Scotland. We had no hot water for a morning, but this was quickly addressed and sorted.

Tanglewood is one of the best holiday houses we've ever stayed at. It's a beautiful, well-equipped, comfortable house with a lovely garden and an upstairs sitting-room that has an absolutely stupendous view. It's in a great location. Within a ten-minute walk are King's Cross Point (a fabulous, serene view over Holy Isle) and Whiting Bay (a great beach for kids). We loved our holiday at Tanglewood and would recommend it to anyone.
