Situated on the banks of the River Ericht, in the spectacular gorges of Strathmore, is the red stone town of Blairgowrie. An excellent base for exploring Perthshire, this lovely little settlement is packed with shops and restaurants, and offers excellent access to the beautiful Angus Glens. Surrounded by pretty rolling fields, the town is also bordered by rugged hills and mountains, which are home to Scotland's largest ski centre, Glenshee. With excellent facilities for riding, cycling and walking, the region also caters for golfers, with several renowned courses and those of nearby St. Andrews. The area also plays host to the world's largest hedge at Meikleour which stands at six hundred metres long and thirty metres high.
