Next door you'll also find a convenient pantry for even more storage space! Evenings are best spent in the first-floor sitting room by the gentle warmth of the woodburning stove, where guests can gather for a film night on the TV, or pop open a bottle of wine to toast to your retreat. Step into the walk-in shower in the family bathroom to rinse off the day before settling down for the night. Cameron House hosts four bedrooms across three floors, including a ground-floor twin, a double with a TV, as well as two spacious second-floor doubles with sloped ceilings, Velux windows, TVs and en-suite shower rooms, perfect for added privacy in a snug setting. The starter pack for the log burner was a sparker and a newspaper. No firelighters or sticks. No toilet roll, we brought our own as advised from reading a previous review. We also broght tea towels and dish cloth. The timer for the heating came on at different times on the 3 mornings we were there. Bedrooms cold at night and on getting up. The house its self was lovely. Just a few factors for the owners to take on board.

The woodburners were great (logs not provided, but kindling and matches are) and helped take the chill off the whole house. The decor and furnishings are stylish and of a high standard. The lack of outdoor space did not concern us as we were so close to lovely Macrosty Park. Early morning dog walks were wonderful and the breathtaking views invigorating. Just a few pointers - Pack a teapot, tea towels, dish cloths, hand towels and loo rolls. There were only four of us (plus dog) but more matching crockery would have been useful. The house was clean and tidy and had a lovely cream carpet running up the stairs and landing, but was quite badly stained. The shower mats were very mouldy and I had to use bleach on ours. Don’t be put off by any of the above comments, just be aware. It is a find.

There are a few things I found as a user of Sykes. We traveled after work and didn’t arrive until very late. Our problem I know but there was nothing in the house for example no toilet paper ,no milk or anything to make that first evening a little easier. We didn’t know where to go to buy anything as it was so late. When we have used Sykes in the past there has always been a small welcome package which is a great idea and one which would have been beneficial to this property. However there were half eater ice lollies in the freezer and used towels in one of the laundry baskets maybe the cleaner of the property had overlooked some stuff. Nevertheless the most beautiful house
