About this property

Rurally located yet just 15 miles from Perth, guests can enjoy the best of both worlds.. Located deep in the heart of an attractive rural area, these two holiday cottages enjoy a peacefully idyllic setting by the tumbling Fochy burn. A striking mill conversion, the Waulkmill Cottages retain original beams and offer beautifully furnished ‘upside-down’ style accommodation, which has been equipped to a high standard. Standing as a pair, they each boast private patios, and benefit from shared use of large woodland and grounds, complete with a hard tennis court and a games room with table tennis, pool table and darts.

They lie just 3 miles from the shores of Loch Leven and Lochleven Castle, the island stronghold served as a prison to Mary Queen of Scots in 1567, until her escape 11 months later.

Popular with fishermen, for its pink-fleshed trout, the loch is also a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with the rspb Nature Reserve, Vane Farm, occupying the land adjacent. Historic Perth (15 miles) offers good shopping, restaurants and a wealth of diverse attractions, whilst Edinburgh and Glasgow are within an hour’s drive. Rosyth ferry port within half an hour’s drive. Kinross (2 miles) for golf course. Riding and sailing nearby. Shop and pub serving food, 2 miles.

Fochy Cottage is a well equipped and charmful cottage. It offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. The terrace along a small burn offers a wonderful location for relaxing hours in the sun, really the best, we ever had.Little disadvatages are the double bed, which is a bit small for two adults and the staircase to the upper floor, which is not well designed and crafted, which is rather noisy and slippery when using it, not recommended for children.

Lovely cottage. Beautiful surroundings. It is isolated but kinloss town is only 5 mins away in the car. The kitchen is small but really nice. It is compact. The couple that run out are lovely and couldn't do enough to help us while we were there.
