About this property

This unique holiday cottage set in the grounds of Tullibole Castle offers luxurious accommodation in an idyllic location.. For a unique experience, look no further than this Visit Scotland ‘4 star’ standard former Scottish longhouse. The cottage has won an award for its conservation of original features which now combine with a contemporary twist to provide a private countryside retreat, far from the stress of everyday life. Set within the grounds of Tullibole Castle which dates back to the 17th century - tours can be arranged with the owner on request. The beamed living/dining room has wooden floors, exposed stone work and a comfortable sofa to watch the Freeview TV in front of the wood-burning stove. The spacious bedroom has a vaulted ceiling with beams and en-suite bathroom with large walk-in shower.

The wonderful conservatory, with its two glass walls, is ideal to enjoy an evening meal, whilst looking out towards the Ochil and Cleish Hills. The large enclosed garden is superb for long sunny days, and the strutting peacocks who share it with you will keep you entertained for hours. Explore the peace of the surrounding woodland and see if you can glimpse the kingfisher and heron that sometimes fish in the 16th-century castle moat. For that truly magical moment, meals can be taken in the castle by arrangement. Afterward, make your way back to your idyllic hideaway, detour past the 18th-century dovecote before meandering through the charming maze which has been created as a memorial to the witches who met their fate at the Crook of Devon Witch Trials. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic location then golf lovers can enjoy a round or two at Gleneagles, Muckhart or Kinross. History, culture and the ultimate shopping experience awaits in Edinburgh, less than an hour away, as are St Andrews and Stirling. A 25-minute walk leads to the village (local shops and pub food).. 1 step to entrance.

Couldn't get TV to work despite owner's explanation + small screen so just streamed anything we wanted to watch on my husband's laptop. 2 x Roman blinds could do with being replaced: both fell down, managed to refit them, one in bedroom falling apart. Left message for owner regarding this. Contact given is Alison Moncrieff. Had to leave a message on the landline and then numerous texts. Never saw or spoke to the woman yet. Rhodrick met us on arrival & we dealt with him from then on. Apparently his wife's mobile is not always switched on (?). Underfloor heating much appreciated altho' not working in the bedroom.

Beautiful open plan cottage and location, we couldnt fault our stay. It was amazing watching the peacocks in the garden, they werent shy at all! Lovely underfloor heating throughout the cottage and some lovely walks near by. We would definitely stay again.

We had an amazing time at the longhouse, although we thought the house was very warm. The view from the conservatory is amazing and loved the nature surrounding it. The front door is on a bit of a messy courtyard, but view makes up for all of that. Loved the peacocks and hens visiting every day. Would absolutely recommend this place, very relaxing and from here it’s easy to get to Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkirk and Glasgow.
