Each summer, the Jim Clark Rally, the only 'closed roads' race on mainland Britain, takes place in and around Chirnside as a memorial to the village's home born champion. Just 9 miles away lies the charming, coastal town of Berwick, boasting narrow streets enclosed within Elizabethan walls, excellent shopping and dining facilities and an interesting arts centre. We loved the quite surrounding and all of the wildlife, birds and Hares. There was nothing to complaina about. One niggle was the very squeaky floorboards in the bedrooms. Having said this. We would not hesitate to use this cottage again.

The cottage was very nice and comfortable. However the floor boards are a problem as they squeak loudly when you walk up stairs.

I would have given five stars if not for two points. The hob has no numbers on anymore so you have no idea how high or low things are on - you do work it out eventually and the floor boards in both bedrooms. They creak really badly so you definitely know when someone is up! The last night I went to bed earlier and when my son came up at 2am he woke everyone up - not intentionally as it could not be helped. I see others have mentioned the boards in the past which I missed originally as they can be so annoying after a while.
