About this property

Resting at the heart of the seaside town of Eyemouth, Berwickshire, is this fabulous holiday home, Generals Yard which is perfect for a couple or a small family plus two well-behaved dogs.

Situated on a former fish yard, on The Bantry, this charming beachfront property is a stone’s throw away from local amenities and attractions and boasts stunning panoramic sea views and is a superb base for exploring Eyemouth and the surrounding Scottish Borders.

Inside, make the most of the open-plan living space, where you and your loved ones can cook up a storm in the well-equipped kitchen, before taking a seat on the large corner sofa where you can watch a film on the Smart TV or simply soak in extraordinary views of the North Sea.

When it’s time for bed, both bedrooms are on the ground-floor and guests can choose from a master super-king size or a smaller double; both are beautifully presented and offer a calming sanctuary after a tiring day of exploring.

If you can tear yourself away from your idyllic base, take a short stroll to the nearby Ship Restaurant and Bar, or grab some fish and chips and ice-cream at Giacopazzi’s or Mackays Of Eyemouth to be enjoyed on the lush sands of Eyemouth Beach. There are a variety of boat trips available locally and as a busy working fishing port there is always something of interest going on in the harbour.

St Abbs is a brief car journey away, where the stunning landscapes of the St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve and Starney Bay can be found.

The village of Chirnside is accessible by car, a worthwhile destination to stop off at on your way to Paxton House, an 18th-century Palladian stately home well worth visiting.

Just a short drive to the south, you will find the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, home to the historic ruins of Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle, as well as the River Tweed, where visitors can hop on a Berwick Boat Trip for a chance to see some aquatic wildlife up close. Travel a little further south and one can visit the stunning Northumberland coast, with Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle, both steeped in history and natural beauty.

There are good public transport connections to Edinburgh and Newcastle too.Choose the Generals Yard for an unforgettable holiday in Berwickshire.

Eyemouth has been a busy fishing port for generations and is still supplied by local fishing boats today. It is located on the East Coast, just over the Scottish Border, and is only eight miles north of Berwick-upon-Tweed. A number of tourist attractions provide information on the region's history, and the charming coastal town's narrow cobblestone alleys preserve its historic charm. !! Everything is of the highest standard-we all loved it Me ,my 75 year old mum n 17 son only have great things to say about this property Stunning

  • Michelle

The welcome pack very generous and greatly appreciated as we were only staying 3 nights self catering between hotel stops. As others have mentioned before the changing light over the sea is magical from the lounge picture window. For the owner only: The wet room central drainage was slow running and when the toilet flushed water bubbled up - used upstairs shower instead

Although the beds were comfortable the rooms lacked hanging storage. When someone was trying to sleep, with the bedrooms being on the lower floor the sound of footsteps from lounge made it impossible to sleep or rest. The lovely red leather sofa looked great in the lounge but it wasnt very comfortable. The picture window over looking the bay was amazing and has the WOW factor.
