No smoking.. South-facing and semi-detached, Avenel Cottage has a wonderful outlook across Yetholm Loch to the Cheviot Hills beyond. It is set in a gloriously peaceful location on the edge of the Old Lochside Estate, just 2 miles from Town Yetholm. The living/dining room has views over the loch, a wonderful oak beamed fireplace, comfortable sofas.
On the first floor the main bedroom has an imposing wood carved headboard on the kingsize bed and an additional single bed. The second bedroom has a ¾ size double bed and a cupboard full of teddy bears. The garden to the back of the cottage is fully enclosed and has sunny, sheltered seating areas. Direct access to paths adjacent to the loch. Nearby, there are the lovely border towns of Kelso, 7 miles, Jedburgh, 14 miles, and Melrose, 23 miles. These attractive towns are well worth exploring with many good eating places, art and craft galleries, local food producers and ancient abbeys. There are many local castles and country houses to visit, along with the Northumbrian coast, Holy Island and the Farne Islands, which can all be easily enjoyed within a day. Shop and pubs 2½ miles, other restaurants, shops and services 7 miles.

The cottage was very well presented although a bit dated. Needs some TLC to bathroom and kitchen. Know that owner Edward busy renovating cottage next door and currently has his hands full. If it is a remote quiet break you are looking for with beautiful countryside then this would be a great place for you. Had a great time and nearby Kelso is a beautiful town with lots to offer, town centre was fab with ample parking, shops, cafes and bars.

Beautiful cottage, views were amazing and lovely places to walk the dogs. Slightly cold however that's what you expect in winter up north and plenty of fire wood supplied which was a lovely touch. Lovely people, very friendly, cottage was very clean we would definitely stay here again

Edward our host was very informative prior to our arrival. Whilst on site, he was available to answer questions. The cottage was an absolute delight. The log fire was a wonderful addition during our November stay, with enough logs supplied for our full stay. The cottage was well equipped. Great location for dog walking, and nature watching, including the addition of a bird hide, which was great for watching the wildlife on the Loch. Pond is a great addition for fishing. Good location for local attractions with Kelso only being a 10 minute drive, including a large Sainsburys super market. Outstanding views from the front of the cottage. Very relaxing and will definitely return.
