Maple Lodge at Acharn Estate in Killin offers a peaceful retreat with lovely grounds, ideal for nature lovers and hikers. Guests appreciate the comfortable, clean lodges, the friendly hosts, and the wildlife. While some find the accommodation and facilities to be outdated and in need of maintenance, the majority of guests report a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Most guests found the lodge to be spotlessly clean and comfortable, though one review mentioned issues with housekeeping, such as dust and a dirty fridge top.
The location is praised for its peacefulness and proximity to nature, with Ben Lawers nearby and wildlife at the doorstep, making it an excellent base for exploring the area.
While many guests found the lodge comfortable and warm, one review cited uncomfortable sofas and beds, which impacted their relaxation.
Facilities like the drying/laundry room are appreciated, but there are concerns about maintenance, including issues with the shower, cooker, and outdoor amenities like ponds and tennis courts.
There are no mentions of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score for thoughtfulness.

Enjoyed our stay in Maple, very comfortable spotlessly clean lodge. The drying/laundry room was a great surprise for drying our hiking gear. Grounds are lovely and peaceful and provided a great base for us with Ben Lawers a short drive away. Hosts a nice and friendly. Would stay again. Thanks

We’ve been holidaying in that cabin for years so returning customers. I love variety of walks, wildlife at doorstep. Very warm, plenty heating. Lovely hosts even lovelier dogs. We’ll definitely go back. All 3 cabins are good, doesn’t matter which one you stay, only 3 of them so not overcrowded. Very private. Quiet.

I was very disappointed with the standard of the accommodation which we booked based on the reviews and photos which made it look quite stylish and comfortable but the reality was quite different. I have mentioned the issues below.1. The sofas and beds were very uncomfortable and did not allow us the relax.2. The control markings on the cooker and hob were faded so difficult to adjust to the correct temperature. The hob appeared old and outdated.3. The shower did not drain efficiently so flooded every time we showered. There was also mould around the shower.4. The lodge was very dimly lit which was very unlike the photos that made it appear bright.5. The housekeeping was below expectation as there was dust under the beds and the top of the fridge was quite dirty. The shower vent has also not been cleaned. 6. Two of the ponds were almost impossible to fish as were overgrown with weeds, and the other pond although better was also difficult. The tennis courts had not been maintained either as were covered with moss and leaves.
