Guests have reported sightings of local wildlife and enjoyed the peaceful environment. The property's rustic charm and the warmth of a log burner add to its cosy atmosphere. While some guests have raised concerns about cleanliness and maintenance, others have praised the character and comfort of the cottage, as well as the friendly and helpful hosts.

The cleanliness of the property has received mixed reviews, with several guests expressing dissatisfaction with the level of cleanliness, mentioning the presence of dust, grime, and in some cases, signs of a rodent infestation. However, a few guests found the property to be clean and tidy upon arrival.

The location is highly praised for its beauty and seclusion, offering stunning views, abundant wildlife, and a peaceful atmosphere. The remote setting and proximity to nature are consistently appreciated by guests, despite some mentioning the challenging access via a steep, uneven track.

Guests have found the cottage to be cosy and comfortable, particularly highlighting the warmth provided by the log burner and radiators. The beds were generally considered comfortable, contributing to a restful experience, although some guests noted the property's interior could benefit from updates.

The facilities have received criticism for maintenance issues, such as problems with the boiler, windows that do not open, and outdated appliances. However, the presence of a log burner and the provision of hot water were positively noted. The lack of a full-size freezer was mentioned by several guests as an area for improvement.

Some guests have mentioned receiving welcome gifts, which were appreciated and added a personal touch to their stay. It should be noted that such gestures, while thoughtful, may not be a consistent offering for all guests.

About this property

Balmeanoch is a quaint cottage set on the hillside, on the quiet shore of Loch Earn. The property provides a great base for a family or group of friends to explore Scotland’s southern Highlands. After a long hike in the hills, return to the cosy Balmeanoch. Take off any coats and boots in the porch and head into the living room. Recline on the sofa, putting your feet up by the woodburner while discussing the day’s events. Once you feel thoroughly revived, move into the kitchen/diner and cook up a delicious home-cooked meal to enjoy at the kitchen table, or in better weather, at the chairs and table outside on the patio. Downstairs you will find a double bedroom, with a twin and a single bedroom upstairs, all offering a great place to rest your head. There is a family bathroom on the ground floor as well as a WC by the porch. Step out into the garden and you can enjoy the fantastic views of fields and hills, as well as the peace and quiet. There has been improvements made at cottage but there is cobwebs and mould which you do expect some in a property of this age. I do think however it should have a deep clean to bring up to scratch. That being said the cottage is lovely and comfy, log fires, heating everything you need in kitchen. It is very remote, we took a table top freezer with us as it only has a undercounter fridge with icebox. There are shops a few miles away, but we did most of ours at a farmshop and in Crieff which is about a 30 min drive away. Very dog friendly with lots of walks on your doorstep. Beautiful scenery, deer, sheep, cows and red squirrels. Dogs unless highly trained should be kept on lead for this reason. The cottage does have an enclosed garden so the dogs can potter. Loch Earn as right at the bottom of the track leading to cottage. We will be going again, if your looking for peace, quiet and gorgeous scenery then this cottage shouldnt be missed

Great location if you have a dog and want relaxing walking. The cottage itself has everything you'll need with a lovely garden. The loch and surrounding area is very pleasant. The what 3 words takes you straight to the gate. Then all you need to do is sit back a relax and enjoy the amazing views. This is certainly a place I would visit again.

Yes it was a lovely little cottage in the middle of nowhere, couldn’t even hear the people fishing on the loch. Will definitely be returning! The hosts left a sample of local produce for us to try, that was extremely tasty. The only issue was the WIFI it was very hit and miss, in the end turned out to be a good thing. Highly recommend staying here. Thank you for letting us use your cottage for the week
