Well equipped home-from-home property with large windows and sea view, which is just a few minutes down the road, on foot. Generally, all good, nothing to complain about. Somewhat limited and awkward central heating schedule (when cold and windy) but well compensated with excellent wood burner (logs provided, more available from excellent community store which is a few miles by car, up the road). Excellent Starlink WiFi (consistent speed of approximately 100Mbps, perhaps a bit slow for a satellite service). Constructive suggestions: location of the property is such that some people may find it difficult to find it when arriving at night (when on a late ferry to Stornoway). The name of the house is on a the metal plate fixed to the rock but not clearly visible from the road at night. White (or reflective) paint and solar light may help. Also, large outdoor blue recycling bin needs some form of attachment to the bin enclosure as strong winds often tip it and scatter the content all over the place. Two other bins are enclosed. A few rocks on top of the blue bin helped while we were there in September, but not much in strong winds.

Magical location to escape the world, great walks and lovely beach on doorstep. Everything you could want in a cottage views from all rooms, log burner, golden eagles flying over…not much up to dislike!

We had a fantastic stay at the cottage, I wished we could come back to the same house now our holidays are over! The house is beautiful, the beds are really comfy and with views on the sea from every corners of the kitchen /living room.We really enjoyed how well equipped the house is especially for young families, there is a room that is a kid's bedroom with plenty of toys and books, and we were able to get a high chair and a baby bed. There is access to the beach within walking distance that was really useful too.Overall the remote location coupled with the comfort of the house really made for a relaxing week on Lewis and Harris! We got lots of useful info from the owner as well prior to checkin in which was really appreciated.
