Guests say

Eriskay Views Cottage is highly praised for its stunning location, breathtaking views, and proximity to a private beach. Guests describe the property as cosy, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it an ideal retreat for a peaceful and memorable holiday. The magical setting and wildlife, including a resident black rabbit, add to the charm. While most experiences are positive, a few guests encountered issues with cleanliness and maintenance.

The majority of guests found the cottage to be spotless and very clean. However, a couple of reviews mentioned issues with heating upon arrival and problems with the shower, which slightly lowers the overall cleanliness score.

The location is consistently lauded for its spectacular views, private beach access, and proximity to local attractions. It is described as an idyllic setting that contributes significantly to the positive experiences of the guests.

Guests frequently mention the comfort of the cottage, highlighting its cosiness and the peaceful environment. There were a few remarks about lumpy beds and heating issues, but these were relatively isolated incidents.

While many guests are satisfied with the well-equipped and organised kitchen, there are reports of a non-functioning dishwasher, issues with hot water, and heating problems in one of the bedrooms. These maintenance issues suggest room for improvement.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts. As such, we cannot provide a score for this category, but it should be noted that gifts are not a guaranteed amenity.

About this property

Eriskay 0.5 miles. Occupying a magnificent beachside position in the heart of Eriskay, Outer Hebrides, Eriskay Views Cottage is a ground-floor apartment with easily accessible accommodation which is perfect for families. Inside, the apartment is surprisingly tardis-like with a really spacious open-plan living area offering an extensive and welcoming space for visitors. The seating area is particularly inviting with sumptuous sofas and soft furnishings arranged around picture windows offering breath-taking sea and beach views to three sides. You can imagine curling up here after a day of activities and spending time winding down, enjoying a drink and a chat and just generally getting into the holiday spirit with the ever-changing views providing a dramatic backdrop. Step into the kitchen area and you will be impressed by the array of facilities on offer; everything that is needed to whip up a fantastic meal for the family and the elegant dining area is perfect for enjoying meal times and taking in more of those gorgeous beach views. The accommodation continues with two well-presented bedrooms, one a king-size complete with en-suite facilities and a twin bedroom with a wet room finishing the good-sized space. Eriskay Views Cottage is the perfect base from which to explore the delights of Eriskay and has all you could possibly want to make your stay as enjoyable and memorable as possible. Within walking distance of the apartment is the famous Prince Charlie’s Bay which is where Bonny Prince Charlie was said to have first landed on Scottish soil and these white sandy beaches are perfect for idyllic strolls. Askernish Golf Course and a traditional Hebridean pub are a short drive away. Barra ferry terminal is not far from the property and is a great day out with loads to discover particularly if you’re a bit of a foodie. Eriskay is connected to the Isle of South Uist by a causeway and is well worth exploring for days out with places such as Benbecula and Berneray of particular interest. Eriskay Views Cottage boasts splendid views and is the ideal place for exploring the Outer Hebrides. The islands can be reached by flights from Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Inverness; or by ferry from Uig on Skye to Lochmaddy, or Oban to Lochboisdale.

The village of Eriskay is found in the centre of the island of Eriskay which is located between South Uist and Barra. It is connected to South Uist by a causeway and is a delightful place to visit. It is known for being the site of ‘Whisky Galore!’ when in 1941 the SS Politician ran aground here carrying 28,000 cases of malt whisky. The wreck was looted by islanders who allegedly hid the whisky all over Eriskay and South Uist. With a population of around 200, it is a picturesque, hilly island. Prince’s Beach is well worth a visit while on Eriskay and is located on the west side of the island. It is thought to be where Bonnie Prince Charlie first set foot on Scottish soil and the Bonnie Prince Charlie trail is popular with visitors to the island. While you are in Eriskay you can stock up at the community shop and there is even a restaurant called Am Politican here where you can stop off and enjoy a delicious bite to eat.

Everything was super clean, well appointed and so comfortable in the house and the location! Oh my...the pictures can't really do it justice until you see it in the flesh. Breathtaking! Thank you all for such a great week. Cindy & family

The view is stunning and proximity to the beach excellent. The lovely walk from the cottage to the Politician pub is fabulous. The cottage is warm and cosy and well equipped. Books and local info are provided, which is great. The only thing lacking for me was a top sheet on the bed as duvets can be too heavy for summer. It was difficult to regulate the temperature of the fridge and some food was spoiled but this wasn't a big deal. Great overall.
