The perfect setting for a family holiday to remember, Clachan Sands Cottage boasts impressive views across to Clachan Sands and is in the ideal location for exploring both North and South Uist. After a long journey, the cottage offers welcome respite with a warm and welcoming open-plan living space complete with sumptuous seating with a delightful woodburning stove providing an attractive focal point to the zone. Leading off from here is an elegant dining area with French doors offering stunning views, the optimal spot to enjoy some hearty fayre, a tasty tipple and some holiday conversation while taking in those stunning views. The spacious kitchen has everything you could possibly need to cook up a storm and is the perfect setting to make use of some of the wonderful local produce available on the doorstep. When bed calls after all that fresh Hebridean air, take your pick from the easily accessible ground-floor double bedroom or either of the two super-king-size first-floor. Whatever the weather, the outside space at Clachan Sands is a particular feature with beautiful gardens boasting spectacular mountain and sea views as the backdrop. The outside patio area is a wonderful spot from where to enjoy the views and indulge in some alfresco time or to really get yourself into the holiday spirit, why not step into the fantastic hot tub and feel those everyday stresses just melt away? If you’re lucky, you might even get a glimpse of the Northern Lights and what a holiday memory that would make. The cottage is of particular appeal to families looking for a secure setting where children (and dogs!) can run around safely while the grown-ups get to relax in style – what’s not to love? Getting out and exploring is a real highlight while you’re at Clachan Sands Cottage and you don’t have to venture far to find a whole host of activities including birdwatching, swimming, snorkelling, kite surfing, fishing and walks along Clachan Sands or a choice of other beaches including Balranald, Hosta, Sollas and Berneray. Just a few minutes’ drive away is the bustling village of Lochmaddy which is worth visiting in its own right but is also a great base for catching a boat to the Isle of Skye. Not far from here you cross the causeway from Benbecula which then takes you on to the isle of South Uist which is well worth a day trip.The Isle of Skye is accessible by Calmac ferry from Uig or from Oban to South Uist. With its unforgettable views and stylish accommodation both inside and out, Clachan Sands is a truly memorable place to visit.

The village of Lochmaddy is the terminus for the daily ferry linking it to Uig on the Isle of Skye and it is also the main centre of population for the island of North Uist. Lochmaddy has good facilities and services including a selection of hotels serving fresh local produce in their dining rooms. A visit to the award-winning museum and arts centre located in the centre of Lochmaddy is a must, and there is also a tourist office full of information about local events and places to visit. The road south of Lochmaddy will lead you to the village of Carinish some 10 miles away and if you continue on this road you can cross the causeway to the island of Benbecula. The town of Balivanich in Benbecula offers shops, post office, a bank, restaurant, a petrol station and an airport, from which car hire can be arranged. The causeway from Benbecula then leads onward to the island of South Uist.

    Uist 2 week stay March 2024 What a beautiful place Cottage was lovely , warm , clean and just right like a home from home Wonderful sea views and very quiet Caroline and Donald were lovely ( the owners ) Would definitely return ( Actually didn’t want to come home )
