Guests say

Gwalia Stores in Beaumaris is a well-received holiday cottage, praised for its comfort, quirky character, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the property's proximity to local amenities. While some minor issues are noted, the overall sentiment is positive, with many guests looking forward to returning.

Most guests found the property clean, though there were comments about dusty floors and the need to wash crockery upon arrival. The yard was noted to be smelly due to previous dogs, suggesting room for improvement in cleanliness standards.

The location is highly praised for being close to the centre of Beaumaris, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and the seafront. Parking is generally not an issue, though it may be more challenging during peak season.

Guests find the beds extremely comfortable and the property spacious. Some concerns were raised about steep stairs and the suitability for pets due to the layout, but overall, the property is considered comfortable.

The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, but there are mentions of a dangerous log burner and a lack of low lighting. Some guests suggested the addition of more lamps and a larger fridge. The absence of logs, despite being advertised, was also noted.

While guests mention a well-equipped property and appreciate the provision of games and puzzles, there is no consistent mention of gifts or welcome packs to accurately assess thoughtfulness. Therefore, this score cannot be provided.

About this property

Gwalia Stores is so named because it was once a shop! Now it’s a charming and quirky holiday cottage in the bustling seaside town of Beaumaris on Anglesey. Offering original tiled flooring and an antique workbench that once made up the store window display, there are lots of lovely little surprises throughout. The bright open plan living space contains the old store front windows and is a lovely place to relax in. For this purpose you have Chesterfield style sofas, a TV with DVD player and a wood burning stove. There’s also a gorgeously large wooden dining table for family meals.

Old definitely does meet new in the kitchen which is well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and a washing machine.

There’s a surprisingly large bathroom with slipper bath, a separate shower enclosure, loo, hand basin and towel radiator.

Outside is a small walled courtyard with bench seating. You can always sit out here with your morning cuppa!

Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

Lots of room for our dog and the enclosed garden to the rear was perfect for him. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend. Thank you for having us. We hope to stay again.

Obviously lots of thought had gone onto the style, furniture, fixtures, bedding, towels. Kitchen was very well equipped, bathroom was lovely and added extras (soap, shampoo etc) gave it a hotel stay feel. Great directions and info re key and bins.

it was lovely and clean just a little worn in places but that added to the charm of the place we could let our dogs run around without worry did'nt let them in bedrooms tho not allowed at home either. Would recommend the Liverpool Arms for first class food and table service dogs welcome.
