About this property

Gwalia Stores is so named because it was once a shop! Now it’s a charming and quirky holiday cottage in the bustling seaside town of Beaumaris on Anglesey. Offering original tiled flooring and an antique workbench that once made up the store window display, there are lots of lovely little surprises throughout. It’s always wonderful to see the old meeting the new!

The bright open plan living space contains the old store front windows and is a lovely place to relax in. For this purpose you have Chesterfield style sofas, a TV with DVD player and a wood burning stove. There’s also a gorgeously large wooden dining table for family meals.

Old definitely does meet new in the kitchen which is well equipped with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and a washing machine.

Upstairs are the three spacious bedrooms: one with a King size bed, and two twin bedrooms.

There’s a surprisingly large bathroom with slipper bath, a separate shower enclosure, loo, hand basin and towel radiator.

Outside is a small walled courtyard with bench seating. You can always sit out here with your morning cuppa!

Gwalia Stores, like many holiday cottages in Beaurmaris, doesn’t have allocated parking but there is street parking is available. Alternatively, there is parking available on The Green where weekly passes can be purchased.

In terms of a holiday cottage in a brilliant location, you can’t get much better than Gwalia Stores! Nestled in the centre of Beaumaris, it’s just a short walk to all the great shops, cafês and restaurants that this coastal town has to offer. There’s also a fabulous bakery close by for tasty sweet treats or a fresh loaf! Beaumaris is an iconic town on Anglesey with its brightly coloured houses. Beaumaris is a well known historic town on the Isle of Anglesey situated on the Menai Strait and overlooking the Snowdonia mountain range, making for the most stunning of sunrises. With its medieval castle (now a World Heritage site) dating back to the reign of Edward I and its Victorian pier, gaol and courthouse, it is also known as a major centre for yachting. Beaumaris is rich in history and retains much of its medieval street pattern. It’s setting, diversity of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs and overall quality contribute greatly to the town’s character. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and public houses, as well as fishing opportunities and boat trips in the town, plus a golf course nearby. Along the coast is a large bay called Red Wharf Bay; its Welsh name is Traeth Coch (Red Beach) and the area is renowned for its glorious sunsets. The bay is very shallow and at low tide, almost 25 square kilometres (10 sq. mi.) of sand is uncovered providing safe bathing, perfect for wonderful family fun, fishing and miles of stunning scenic walks. Further afield is the port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry links to Dublin. Beaumaris is a good central base for touring Wales, in a beautiful location on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey, within easy reach of the spectacular mountains of Snowdonia.

Comfy beds for a good night's sleep and a well equipped kitchen. Lots of additional items provided to enhance your stay in the kitchen and plenty of room for a family. Downside shower still not warm enough may need tweaking. Hope to return soon.

The accommodation had everything we needed for our week away and we loved every minute. Large rooms with plenty of space - there was only two of us and the dog but there would have been more than enough space for four people and more dogs. A small enclosed back yard was perfect for a dog that can easily jump a 4’ fence

The location was perfect for a wander to the bakery, the gaol, the castle and the fabulous shops in town. Only downside was the WiFi was a bit slow. Think that’s a Beaumaris issue rather than the property. Otherwise a wonderful place to stay and we will definitely be back next summer.
