Gwel Y Môr is located close to local amenities and just a short walk away from Beaumaris Sea front, soak up the sun here or enjoy fish and chips on the promenade. Or spend the day brushing up on local history by travelling to Beaumaris Castle, a medieval stronghold built by Edward I and Beaumaris Gaol, a Victorian prison. This property is also ideally located for a day trip by boat to Puffin Island, here you can admire local wildlife and panoramic views, animal lovers will also want to visit Pili Palas Nature World. Venture further afield to Bangor and to see the 1971 Eisteddfod Gorsedd Stones and Roman Camp or to Conwy to treat yourself to ice cream while roaming the iconic Conwy Castle. With something for everyone, Gwel Y Môr is a wonderful base of a family getaway to Anglesey.

This historic town on the Isle of Anglesey sits on the Menai Strait overlooking Snowdonia's mountains, making for a breathtaking sunrise. Beaumaris has an Edward I-era mediaeval castle, which is now a unesco World Heritage Site, as well as a Victorian pier, gaol, and courthouse, it is also well-known as a major yachting hub. Many of Beaumaris's mediaeval streets are still in use today. The town's location, variety of architectural styles and periods, differing scale, open spaces, varying roofs, and overall quality all contribute greatly to the town's personality. The town offers a wide range of amenities, including a golf course nearby, as well as fishing and boating excursions. Red Wharf Bay, also known as Traeth Coch (Red Beach) in Welsh, is a large bay on the coast that is well-known for its spectacular sunsets. There are nearly 25 square kilometres (10 sq. miles) of sand that can be seen when the tide is low, and the bay is shallow making it safe for bathing and ideal for family outings, fishing, and scenic walks. The port of Holyhead, which has regular ferry connections to Dublin, is close but a little further out. Beaumaris is a great starting point from which to explore the rest of Wales, as it is sited on the south coast of the picturesque Isle of Anglesey and close to the stunning Snowdonia mountains.

The accommodation was well maintained, clean, comfortable and cosy. There was plenty of free on street parking virtually on the door step and really interesting area, full of history.

We used the house mainly as a base at night. We were familiar with the property as my sister has previously hired it and we were impressed with what it had to offer, hence why we chose to hire it this time around, we knew what we were getting. Perfectly located within the town, a 2 minute walk to all the towns facilities and shops/pubs. On road parking is available but limited. The house was immaculately clean and tidy however the only downside was when we walked into the house there was a musty odour coming from the hallway- the only way I can describe it is like a bucket of dirty mop water had been spilt on the carpets and allowed to dry. It didn’t affect us as we were only in the house for a small amount of time however if we were there longer it certainly would have put me off. It may be wise to find the source of the odour and rectify it for future guests. The house comfortably sleeps 6 and there is space in the top double bedroom for a travel cot (not provided by the house). Excellent kitchen facilities. Lovely coffee machine in the master bedroom although we did not use this. Excellent check in time (3pm) and check out time (10am). Towels and bed linens provided. It may be worth leaving some instructions in the house- contact details, check in/out times etc. When my sister has previously stayed these were readily available but not this time. I read some previous reviews regarding the house next door undergoing some renovation and builders being noisy- builders were present undertaking works for the duration of our stay however were quiet and it didn’t affect the stay. A beautiful house and We would stay again. Thank you.

Beds were comfy. The property is in need of a little TLC and we were particularly disappointed with the outdoor area, which was a bit of a mess. Host was very quick responding to me when we couldn’t find the towels though.
