The nearby towns of Holyhead and Trearddur Bay, the former boasting attractive shops and taverns as well as the magnificent Breakwater with its County Park, are also close by. Trearddur Bay, meanwhile, is surrounded by beautiful craggy coastline, sandy beaches, and coves, as well as the charming South Stack Lighthouse. Visit the wonderful mediaeval town of Beaumaris, with its dramatic castle and a variety of interesting things, on the opposite end of the island. Llanfair PG, the world's second-longest one-word place name, is also close by. For outdoor aficionados, head to mainland Wales and spend a day in Llandudno, Conwy, Caernarfon, or even the Snowdonia National Park.
