Guests say

Lower Barn offers a spacious and charming cottage experience in a beautiful, secluded setting with lovely views and plenty of room for families and pets. Guests appreciate the games room, outdoor space, and peaceful nights. While some found the access track challenging and noted occasional maintenance and cleanliness issues, many enjoyed the tranquil location, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches. The property is well-equipped for family stays and provides a relaxing base to explore the surrounding area.

Several guests mentioned issues such as flies, cobwebs, crumbs, and occasional mouse droppings, indicating that cleanliness can be inconsistent. However, some guests found the property generally clean and comfortable.

The cottage is praised for its beautiful, secluded location and stunning views. However, the steep, unpaved access track proved difficult for some vehicles, and the remote setting may not suit everyone.

Guests found the cottage spacious, with comfortable beds and ample seating. Some minor issues with heating and light in the main bedroom were noted, but overall comfort was rated positively.

The property is well-equipped with a games room, books, and a BBQ, making it suitable for families. Some maintenance issues, such as water pressure and handrails, were reported, but most guests found the facilities met their needs.

Some guests appreciated small touches such as complimentary Welsh cakes and coffee, but please note that such gifts are not guaranteed. The property is dog-friendly and provides amenities for families, though some guests felt more personal interaction from the owners would be welcome.

The cottage itself was fine, had everything we needed for our weekend. There was a bit of an issue with flies, with the amount of fly spray & fly traps in the cottage this was obviously an ongoing issue. Our problems were with the information we were given. We booked through Homes to go on line & this seemed to mean we didn’t get all the information we needed. We didn’t get the access code until we chased this up, first with an on-line chat on The Home to Go app & then directed to phone Cottage.com. They were helpful but it was all felt a waste of time to have to chase it.Then the only direction to the cottage, this was via a link to Google Maps but turned out this was the centre of the postcode not the property, we were lucky that it was still daylight when we got there & the Cottage.Com help line was still open, if we had been an hour later I suspect we would still be looking. The other piece of information missing was that the cottage was up an unpaved steep single track, we made in our car but anything lower or it had been bad weather I don’t think we would have made it.All this took the edge off our stay.

Recently stayed at Lower Barn (Dolgran) which we booked for a 3 night/4day duration between 28/08-31/08!We are a family of 5 and unfortunately this property hasn't/didn't live up to expectations and resulted being rated lowest so far!Unfortunately there are more negatives to comment rather than positives!* Please be aware that the owners of this holiday property are not located or present anywhere near and you will not be met or personally welcomed by whoever actually owns it - this is the 1st property we have experienced this with which is disappointing as you get the impression that they just don't care and is just a "passive income" and "out of sight - out of mind" attitude towards customer care and the overall experience! * If anyone is thinking of booking this property, firstly the most important issue to raise/highlight is the shocking so called "road" access leading to the property - basically, no road actually exists whatsoever! In a nutshell the most honest and transparent way to describe it is "a smashed up/pot holed very narrow single track" that is certainly not suitable or appropriate for any vehicle other than any 4x4 vehicle with extremely good ground clearance! (we don't own a 4x4 vehicle and found this to be very inconvenient and dangerous for potential damage to our car!) * On arrival and entering the property, we discovered that there was an infestation of Flies throughout and bad odour in the kitchen area which was unpleasant and annoying to constantly deal with - when booking a stay away, you don't expect to provide a temporary "pest control" service!* The property cleanliness in general was poor with cobwebs throughout and overall needed a deep clean to provide a nicer and fresher feel - a lick of paint and general tidy up to refresh throughout wouldn't go a miss and would definitely help towards the experience in staying here! * Not sure what this property is actually located/situated too, but from our experience we couldn't exactly make out if it was some kind of farm outlet (not livestock) but as mentioned in previous reviews/feedback we witnessed a large pack of dogs (domestic or wild - not sure whoever owns them, if they're dog breeders or something else) attached directly to the rear of the property! Although I like dogs and have no issues with, on this occasion we all found the constant barking especially in the early morning hours very inconsiderate and just disturbing to hear and put up with when you've spent good money to get away from town/city life for hopefully a relaxing family break in a quiet/tranquil location!* Overall, we wouldn't book/stay here again or recommend Lower Barn unless you don't mind any of the feedback listed and own a 4x4!

We had a lovely time at Lower Barn. Gorgeous garden and view. The barn had everything you could want and was very spacious. We loved birdwatching in the garden and watching the bats at night.
