About this property

Nestled in the centre of Laugharne in South Wales lies Old Gate House, a three-storey, mid-terrace cottage with plenty of character. The property is located right on the high street for nearby amenities and attractions, and hosts facilities such as a hot tub and washing machine, making a wonderful base for a family or group of sixes holiday by the sea. Be immediately welcomed by a charming sitting room with brown leather seats, an electric fire and a wall-mounted TV, perfect for unwinding after the day's adventures! Whip up home-cooked meals and picnics in the neighbouring kitchen/diner, equipped with an electric AGA oven and hob and finished to a high standard with wooden countertops and a Belfast sink. Dine at the table with your loved ones or step out into the courtyard; enjoy the last of the sunshine at the outdoor seating and de-stress in the hot tub under the stars. As night draws in, climb the stairs for a bubble bath or a refreshing shower in the bathroom, with stylish panelled walls and tiled floor. Retreat to one of three thoughtfully decorated bedrooms, each uniquely decorated with attractive colour schemes and storage space; choose from a double, second-floor double or second-floor twin. You'll have Laugharne's high street lined with shops, pubs and eateries right on your doorstep, whilst the remains of the village castle are a wonderful attraction; book lovers can also visit the former home and writing shed of Dylan Thomas, featuring exhibitions and an art gallery. Pack your towels and venture to Pendine with a stunning sandy beach and the nearby National Trust's Ragwen Point or carry on to the bustling seaside resorts of Saundersfoot and Tenby. Both offer a taste of South Wales' renowned coastlines and family-friendly entertainments, whilst history lovers can explore Tenby's castle remains, St. Catherines Island and fort and a 15th-century Merchant's House. If you're travelling with little ones, be sure to visit the nearby Folly Farm for plenty of fun-filled activities! Old Gate House is a fantastic base for your next holiday in South Wales.

Laugharne is known for its ties with the poet Dylan Thomas. Visiting his Boat House and writing shed, where he penned the majority of his works, is a fantastic experience. Beautiful walks about the castle, with spectacular views of the estuary, can be followed by cream teas in quaint tiny tea places, a drink at the local pub, or shopping in the gift shops and mini market. The neighbouring sandy beach at Pendine is nearby, whilst the seaside resorts of Tenby and Saundersfoot are further afield.

The facilities were good…lacked some of the basics: hair dryer, corkscrew, information pack. Still a superb place and would highly recommend.

The house is perfect, beautiful kitchen, location and outside area. The beds were so comfy that we are actually going to buy the same bedding! Only thing was that the hot tub was stuck in eco mode and wasn’t warm enough to use on our arrival. Quickly sorted though, with the hot tub being changed into standard mode and warming quickly. The property owners couldn’t have been more helpful.

You are located on the main road through the village and so you will hear traffic noise in the mornings. A bonus having a hot tub and a nice outdoor dining area that catches the late afternoon sun, which we had the benefit of. The property is well presented and was very clean and welcoming when we arrived. We would definitely recommend and will return.
