Guests say

Guests consistently praise Pant Teg Farm for its warm hospitality, picturesque setting, and homely atmosphere. The property's well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and additional amenities such as a hot tub are frequently highlighted. The hosts' personal touches and engagement with guests add to the charm of this rural retreat.

Reviews frequently mention the property's immaculate condition, with specific references to cleanliness that suggest a high standard is maintained. However, one review mentioned issues with flies due to the rural setting, which slightly impacts the score.

The property's location is celebrated for its beautiful South Wales countryside and proximity to local attractions. While the scenic setting is a highlight, no specific drawbacks are mentioned, resulting in a high score.

Comfort is a recurring theme, with guests describing the beds as cloud-like and the property as restful and spacious. One review mentioned a mattress issue, but this seems to be an isolated comment amidst overall positive feedback.

The farmhouse is praised for its facilities, including a traditional range and modern appliances. However, one review cited several maintenance issues, suggesting that while the facilities are generally excellent, there is room for improvement.

The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, with mentions of welcome baskets and birthday decorations. However, as gifts are not guaranteed and not all reviews mention them, it is not possible to accurately score this category.

About this property

Nestled in the breath-taking Gwendraeth Fach Valley in the village of Llangyndeyrn is Pant Teg Farm. This is a traditional working dairy farm that has been in the same family for several generations and boasts a substantial farmhouse full of traditional features and lots of character in a fantastic location surrounded by rolling green fields, rugged terrain, and beautiful views. On arrival you will find ample parking spaces, a large, enclosed garden area to the front and a patio area to the back. Cross the threshold and kick off your muddy boots into the porch, open the door into the warm Rayburn heated, homely, large farmhouse kitchen. Either make yourself a cup of tea and snuggle up into the warm lounge heated by the woodburning stove or crack open the prosecco and raise a toast to your getaway. If the weather permits, jump into the hot tub which quite easily accommodates six people, a wonderful place to enjoy a soothing soak while reminiscing on the memories you have created. Admire the stars as they fill the sky thanks to Pant Teg’s location in a designated dark sky area before finding the farmhouse’s five well-presented bedrooms: one king, two doubles and one twin which can also be converted to a super king depending on your accommodation needs. You also have the benefit of a homely snug so that the children can have a room of their own to occupy them while you’re busy in the kitchen or sitting room. As a working farm, Pant Teg offers bookable guided farm walks, and depending on the time of your visit, you can experience either the cows being milked, a cow calving or even the calves being fed in the state of the art calving shed. For any keen anglers the farmhouse offers three quarters of a mile of river fishing and for keen walkers, there are plenty of walks including the historic Llangyndeyrn mountain just half a mile away. Local amenities can be found in Pontyberem where you can pick up necessities at the local store before treating your loved ones to a delicious meal at the Red Lion, The White Heart or the Mansel Arms. Discover the wealth of attractions woven throughout the countryside; find the imposing Kidwelly Castle, a Norman-era fortress where you can brush up on local history, the National Trust Sites of Paxton Tower and Dinefwr the 13th-century ruins of Castell Carreg Cennen. Pant Teg is only 5 miles away from the historic town of Carmarthen tour Carmarthen Castle or the Carmarthenshire County Museum. Alternatively explore the coast, at Pembrey Beach where you can marvel at the breath-taking views across the Bristol Channel while your canine companion roams freely. On arrival at the farmhouse, you will find an information pack with an abundance of detailed information about the area and the history as well as other things to do! Alun, Angharad and Dewi look forward to welcoming you to Pant Teg Farm.

In the Gwendraeth Valley, midway between Carmarthen and Llanelli, is the community of Pontyates. It has a shop, post office, pub, garage, and fish and chip shop. This village's location is ideal for shopping excursions, theatre or cinema nights, steam rides, beach days, golfing, and even a day at the races for both horses and cars. An attractive area of Wales to visit at any time of year.

Overall we enjoyed our stay however there are some things that dampened our stay. Pro's- lovely large house with plenty of space, blackout blind in the babys little bedroom, enclosed garden safe for children, firestick for the tvs, owners let the kids come and see the cows being milked and the baby calves getting their milk and taught us all about the workings of the farm. Lovely big kitchen, undercover hot tub, washing machine and tumble dryer. Lovely new carpets inside, all cleaning products/cling film/foil were provided for us (aside from washing machine things). Cons- owners live in very close proximity to the house and overlooking the hot tub patio. Working dogs loose on site at times, on our last day one large dalmation ran up barking its head off at the kids who had just got out of the car and luckily were already on the other side of the gate, but it was then stood between the adults in the car with the baby and the gate entrance to the house. Flies- you are in the middle of a working dairy farm and the flies were something else. It was not nice in the kitchen even with the fly lamp. Had to keep all the doors and windows shut to keep the flies out, with the Rayburn/Aga on full blast the whole time the heat was stifling trying to cook. A lot if things around the kitchen needed fixing. The oven didn't close properly, the fridge door didn't close properly- the second fridge/freezer was wobbly and rusty. Sone essential supplies like baking trays and a large chopping board were missing, had to request pint glasses. We were only provided one tea towel for the week until more were requested. There was no access to spare linen which would have been handy with small children. Mattress in the main bedroom is a bit knackered and sagging, ended up with back ache every morning. Net curtains were thrown over the tops of the curtain rails in the bathrooms, bathroom cupboard doors were falling off its hinges. Jacuzzi bath had all of its jets disabled and the metal edges were all peeling. No shower head for rinsing. Hot tub outside was nice but all the chemicals were just left on the floor for inquisitive children to get access to. Headboards were disintegrating leaving bits of rubber sometimes floating in the water. 1 metre past the 1mtre high fence of the back garden is a 2mtre at least drop down into a bramble filled stream which in late August was a gentle trickle, but I imagine it gets much higher at other times of year. A 3 year old in our group easily found a lower part in the fencing and hopped it. There was no barbecue unlike most places we have been previously None of this stopped us from having a good time during our week, but regretfully we would not likely return (mainly due to the flies - we counted 150 dead in a 24 hour period in one room) despite the owners being very lovely and making sure most days that we were ok. Unfortunately most of these things would not have been quick fixes for them while we were there.
