Site Description

Set in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with views over the Taf Estuary and Gower Peninsula and surrounded by mountains, lush green landscapes and secluded ancient forests criss-crossed by walking trails, the redeveloped resort of Dylan Coastal Resort and Milk Wood House has been awarded Made for Mums bronze award for family friendly holidays. This area is famous for its long stretches of unspoilt golden sands, with some of the best family-friendly beaches, coastal paths and birdwatching in Britain. It’s little wonder that Carmarthenshire has inspired so many artists, poets and writers, including Dylan Thomas, who lived in the ancient estuary township of Laugharne nearby.

Please note, this park does not allow over occupancy in the units – babies/infants are to be included in the party total.

No Pets at all on site.

If you want a piece of heaven and a truly luxurious experience in a UK lodge holiday then this is the place to go. We were in Milkwood lodge 56, with a hot tub and when we arrived I couldn't help gasping. The view was incredible. Everything at The Dylan is about the views, everything oriented to make the most of the endlessly-changing estuary. The lodge was immaculately clean and everything felt new (probably because it was). The bed (again with a stunning view) was very comfortable. We even exclaimed over the fabulous kitchen knives (so sharp!). I would have stayed forever if I could! The hot tub too was lovely and was checked and refilled every day by a member of staff. The other facilities were fabulous - the infinity pool and hydrotherapy pool, the sauna, steam room, ice bucket shower and hot chairs were all, again, designed to overlook the view and never felt crowded. The restaurant was very nice, but we only used it once as, once we sat down, we were told that half the menu was off. I believe this was due to the bank holiday, but, being a vegetarian this left me with only one thing to choose from! This didn't matter too much though, as the choices of places to eat in Laugharne are great. There is a WONDERFUL Thai take-away at the top of the road, a fish and chip shop, some great pubs, a deli and cafes. If you want to splash out there is Arthurs which even does lobster thermidor! There is also a Select Convenience store that does a decent range of food and drink if you decide to cook in. And there is a gift shop with a friendly owner where I bought the prerequisite holiday fridge magnet and some Dylan Thomas books. There is plenty to do. Obviously on one day we did the Dylan Birthday Walk for the amazing views, walked around the castle and went to see the boathouse and the writing shed (basically on site). We did a spa day to take advantage of the great facilities. We did a day at the beach and we had an afternoon in Carmarthen where we did an escape room (which was excellent and very highly recommended). Now to the downside. There is only one really, and that is the fact that, be warned, the Dylan is on a HILL. You get the views, but you also get a very steep walk from the pool / restaurant back to your lodge! We did see golf buggies but we didn't see them being used and weren't sure if we could ask about them.In order to maximise the wonderful views, they have also taken the decision (and I can't blame them) to make the lodges without individual parking. This means that we had to park at a small car park on top of the hill and carry all the luggage (and there was a lot of luggage for a family of four - from our cases, to our food and drink, to our beach bags etc) down steep steps and along a bit of a walk to get to our lodge. Then back again a few days later. Still, after all the lovely food and drink and lounging about looking at the views, I could probably do with the exercise.
