Maes Y Wawr is a spacious and well-equipped cottage offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for families and groups. Guests particularly enjoyed the games room, modern bathrooms, and the ample space both indoors and outdoors. The property’s location provides beautiful scenery and opportunities for stargazing, though access can be narrow and recycling arrangements could be clearer. While some areas could benefit from a deeper clean and minor updates, the overall experience is highly positive, with many guests keen to return.
Most guests found the property clean and tidy, with fresh linen and towels. However, some noted a lack of attention to detail, such as dead flies on window sills and some poorly washed kitchen items.
The cottage boasts a fantastic location with stunning views and a tranquil setting, perfect for relaxation and stargazing. The only drawbacks mentioned were the narrow access road and limited safe walking areas for dogs.
Guests consistently praised the spaciousness, large rooms, and modern bathrooms, noting that the house never felt crowded even with larger groups. The peaceful atmosphere and comfortable amenities contributed to a relaxing stay.
The property is very well equipped, with highlights including a popular games room, a telescope for stargazing, and a well-stocked kitchen. Some areas are a little dated, but recent bathroom refurbishments and ample space were appreciated. Minor maintenance issues, such as missing keys and a bleeping noise, were quickly addressed by the caretaker.
There were no specific mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

Enjoy a round of golf at the famous Jack Nicklaus course, Llanelli or the Ashburnam links course, or watch live sport at the Llanelli Scarlet’s Rugby Stadium and nearby Ffos Las Racecourse. A short drive inland brings guests to the county’s rolling countryside which is scattered with charming market towns including Llandeilo and Carmarthen, as well as numerous medieval sites dotted around. A trip to Carmarthenshire is not complete without a visit to Laugharne, which was formerly home to famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, who described the charming village as ‘the strangest town in Wales’. Stunning property in a stunning location. Some areas are a little tired, but that is reflected in the price and didn't spoil our holiday. We loved having so much space, both inside and out.The kitchen has plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils. The Smeg range is fantastic, although it would be even better with a professional clean. The bath/shower rooms have been refitted recently so modern and attractive. We had a couple of problems - no back door key, so the caretaker (Ashley) found us a spare. The other issue was a bleeping noise above the dining room coming from the solar panel setup. That took a bit longer to resolve on account of the bank holiday, but again he was extremely helpful and made sure we were ok.Plenty to do nearby and fabulous beaches only a short drive away.Highly recommended.
