These purpose-built holiday cottages (refs 24574, 27255 and 27257) have been constructed or converted from the original farmhouse buildings and an old Welsh longhouse. Welsh craftsmanship at its best - only the finest local tradesmen and materials have been used for the conversion of these buildings. They are situated in an elevated position on the edge of Broadlay near Ferryside on the old pilgrim road to St David’s Cathedral.
There is generous amenity space, dog walking paths and a country adventure play area for small, accompanied children. The complex is on the local bus route which connects to Carmarthen via the hotel and Ferryside railway station. In the opposite direction, Kidwelly and Swansea are en route. Ferryside is uncommercialised, peaceful and quiet; the ideal getaway for a perfect weekend (or longer) break. It is also, due to its proximity to Carmarthen, Llanelli and other centres, an ideal corporate meeting place. Kidwelly, with its Norman castle, industrial heritage museum, Pembrey Country Park and Motorsport Centre, within approximately 10 minutes’ travelling time.
The National Botanical Gardens, Laugharne (famous for Dylan Thomas’ Boathouse) and many Pembrokeshire attractions are about half an hour’s drive. There are many places to visit including Dylan Thomas’ cottage, where he spent the last years of his life. The Millennium Coastal Cycle Path, part of the national cycle path network, meanders through approximately 20 miles of local coastline, passing through local areas of interest. We spent Christmas as a family of 12..8 adults and 4 children. And 2 dogsThe house is large with plenty of space for everyone...lots of hide and seek, space for board games, crafting and tv watching if needed. Having each room with its own shower and toilet was great. The kitchen facilities where ok, again plenty of cupboard space. Two fridges helped and a pantry made storage good. Heating and hot water where good.Having said all the positive stuff unfortunately the house is in need of a uplift in some areas.. evidence of leaks and damp patches, not the best when it comes to cleanliness. We did feel comfortable and it was good not to worry to much. Not 5 star accommodation, we all agreed we'd give it a 3 star rating.

The layout of the house was perfect for the 11 of us - especially with every room having a large en-suite. The location is great, less than a 10 minute drive in to Kidwelly, and a 20 minute drive to a big Tesco. There's a coastal path close by, with a pub about a mile away. The house is private and we weren't disturbed the whole 4 nights we were there. The owners were very polite, contacting me to make sure we'd checked in OK. I also rang before we arrived to query the amount of cars we could bring - 4 comfortably, 5 at a push - and the lady I spoke to was lovely. Now, we did have a few issues. Every morning some of the group (myself included) woke up with itchy eyes and what seemed to be a small rash on our faces. I'm not sure what this was caused by, but by the third morning, my friend had to go home because her eyes had swollen. There appeared to be some mould in places, and rust on the showers. The water tank ran out of hot water quite quickly, so some of us had to wait a while before we could shower. The smell of manure was extremely intense at times, but the listing does warn the house is on a farm, so I guess that can't be helped. There are plenty of televisions throughout the house, however they are very small, so I would recommend bringing a larger one if you intend to play games/watch TV as a group. And finally, make sure you check under the sink before you purchase your own hand wash/bin bags/sponges, as everything we needed was hiding under there!
