Guests say

Maesbangor Farmhouse is a spacious and well-equipped property ideal for large groups, offering multiple kitchens, ample dining space, and a hot tub. Set in a peaceful rural location near Aberystwyth, it provides a comfortable stay with beautiful views and is appreciated for its potential and size.

While fresh bedding and towels are provided, several reviews mention the need for a deep clean, with issues such as black mould, grimy walls, and general wear and tear. However, some guests found the property tidy.

The property is praised for its beautiful rural setting and quiet location, with great views and proximity to Aberystwyth and local amenities. The peaceful gardens and nearby outdoor activities add to its charm.

Guests enjoyed the spaciousness and the multiple living areas, which provided comfort for large groups. However, intermittent heating issues and boiler fumes in some bedrooms affected the overall comfort for some guests.

The property is well-resourced with two kitchens, washing machines, and a hot tub, but maintenance issues such as a non-functional hot tub, broken fixtures, and heating problems were noted. Despite this, many guests had a positive experience with the facilities provided.

There are no mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the host that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

In a rural setting, but less than 5 miles east of the seaside town of Aberystwyth, and with beautiful views of the Rheidol Valley, Maesbangor Farmhouse is a large property with lots of room to spread out. Previously two homes, but now combined into one, this spacious semi-detached house offers seven bedrooms sleeping up to 14 guests.

The imposing front of the house looks across the valley, and the front garden even boasts a hot tub where you can relax and take in the view. As you enter inside you will appreciate how ideal the farmhouse is for families or friends who want that extra space, or perhaps a quiet corner. There is a large beamed dining room with a feature wood burner. Leading off is a conservatory overlooking the enclosed terrace with benches and tables as well as a small lawn. The kitchen, complete with a breakfast area, is well-equipped with everything you need to cook up a tasty treat.

On the other side of the house there is a living room with 50" Freeview TV and wood burner, as well as an additional living room. Also on this side of the house you’ll find kitchen number two; smaller than the first but still well-equipped. There are two staircases that lead to the first floor, one leading to four bedrooms, all en-suite, and the other leading to three further bedrooms, one of which is en-suite, and a family bathroom. Imagine yourself sitting on the the sandy beach overlooking Cardigan Bay, watching dolphins, or perhaps exploring one of the many market towns in the surrounding area. The Victorian resort of Aberystwyth, with its electric cliff railway, promenade and pier, is close by, as is the compelling Cambrian Mountains, dotted with hill sheep farms, forest and lakeland. Take a meandering train ride on what was once a working link between the local lead mines and the harbour; the Vale of Rheidol Railway now runs a steam train service through the Rheidol Valley to Devil’s Bridge, where you can see the famous Mynach Falls, Devil’s Punch Bowl and Jacob’s Ladder. When you’re done with exploring for the day, come back and relax at Maesbangor Farmhouse or visit the gastro pub, situated within half a mile of the house. Beach 6 miles. Set in the most beautiful area. Such stunning landscape! Staff were kind and helpful. The house was spacious and airy and cosy and warm ( January) . Amenities were a short trip away into Aberystwyth .Thank you so very much for our stay with you.

A spacious and warm house suitable for large gatherings. The rooms were well furnished and the kitchens full of everything you might need to cook a large dinner. Big fluffy towels were also very lovely. A starter of logs and coal were very welcome and we made use of both kitchens and all of the social rooms. The table in the small lounge made an excellent table tennis table!!! . My only negative would be the situation of the hot tub we would rather it was nearer the house but really not a problem.

I stayed over Christmas with family and friends. We were greeted by the owner on arrival at check-in at 3pm and everything was ready. The house is big, certainly big enough for the 12 of us. The living room is large enough to seat 10 and has a log fire and TV. The large dining room can accommodate 14 so was plenty big enough for all of us to eat together. The other dining room seats 6 but we used that as a quiet room to get away for a little while. The conservatory is good for that as well.We were thankful for the two kitchens as it meant we had two ovens to cook Christmas dinner and two dishwashers to clean it all up afterwards. The house is tidy but could do with a deep clean. The hinges for the door for the built-in washing machine were damaged so it hung off when opened. Fumes from the oil fired boiler seeped into the two bedrooms above which were unpleasant so we stuck toilet paper in the holes in the floor that the water pipes came through which solved it after a day.We all used the hot tub which was a nice 40 degrees in the chilly weather although it could have done with a clean, there was some dirt in the bottom which I presume was from previous occupants feet walking to it.The house is located in a lovely area just outside Aberystwyth which is about a 15 minute drive into the centre but there is a Morrisons supermarket about 10 minutes drive as you enter the town. If you are into the outdoors then there are mountain bike trails and walking trails nearby including, of course, the coastal path at Aberystwyth. Two of us have EVs and, although the house doesn't have any charging facility (something I think the owners should consider installing), there are high speed chargers just across the road from Morrisons, 6 Tesla (open to other makes) and 2 at McDonalds, and also 2 50kW chargers at Morrisons, so no problem getting a charge.I would recommend Maesbangor Farmhouse for a large group as it has plenty of space and you are not under each other's feet.
