The town itself was once famous for smuggling, fishing and wooden boatbuilding, and is now a great place to sit and enjoy an ice cream, or take a boat trip around the bay looking out for the resident bottlenose dolphins and seals. There is plenty to see and do to keep you occupied in New Quay alone, but there are miles of coastal path to explore if you want to leave the car behind. The trail to Llangrannog is approximately 8 miles to the south or head north to Aberaeron on a 6-mile walk.
