Guests say

Fronwig is a stunning property in New Quay, boasting amazing views and a perfect location. Guests have enjoyed the spacious rooms, the hot tub, and the proximity to the beach. While the property has received high praise for its location and views, some guests have suggested improvements in kitchen equipment and the provision of home comforts.

The property was described as spotless upon arrival by a guest, indicating a high level of cleanliness. However, there were mentions of smelly bathrooms, possibly due to drain issues, which suggests room for improvement.

The location is consistently praised for its stunning views and quietness, even during peak season. Its proximity to the centre of New Quay and the ability to see dolphins in the harbour adds to its charm.

The bedrooms are described as bright, airy, and of a great size, contributing to the comfort of the stay. However, there were comments about the lack of an expected adjoining en-suite, which could affect comfort for some guests.

Facilities like the hot tub and shower are appreciated, but guests have noted a lack of kitchen equipment and the need for better maintenance, such as replacing chipped mugs and providing oven dishes.

While guests have mentioned a welcome pack, the reviews do not provide enough information to assess the overall thoughtfulness of the hosts consistently. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category, and guests should note that gifts are not guaranteed.

About this property

Fronwig is a stunning, four-bedroom former sea captain’s home, perched in the popular seaside town of New Quay, Ceredigion. Enjoying a superb location overlooking the beach with exceptional sea views from its contemporary interior and patio/garden, Fronwig is a fabulous pet-friendly choice for a group or family of eight seeking a luxury escape. The property benefits from one off-road parking space with an electric car charging point, and a generous front garden with a summerhouse, furniture and a wood-fired hot tub, so you can enjoy meals alfresco with a backdrop of the harbour where the resident dolphin can frequently be seen playing in the water. Be welcomed into the spacious kitchen/diner, where you can conjure up your best dishes, ready to serve at the dining table which offers a lovely outlook of the sea. After dinner, retire to the sumptuous seating in the sitting room, also benefitting from sea views, and select a much-loved film from the TV as the evening’s entertainment; on cooler evenings, light the woodburning stove for a relaxing ambience. Completing the ground floor is a handy utility with a washing machine, a cloakroom, and a stylish shower room, where you can freshen up after spending a day at the beach. Follow the stairs up to the first floor, where a beautiful bathroom awaits, where you can freshen up with your choice of bath or shower, before choosing from one of four well-appointed bedrooms, a king-size with en-suite, a double with en-suite, and two twin bedrooms, with elevated coastal views. Explore the town, where you can treat your loved ones to a meal at the welcoming Pepper Pot Bar and Grill, The Sea Horse Inn, or The Old Watch House, embark on a fishing trip to hook your catch of the day, spend a day on the golden sands of New Quay Beach, visit the Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre, or experience an unforgettable day with a dolphin watching boat trip. Next stop is Aberaeron, where you can hike along the Allt y Graig Woodland Trail, take a dip in the Aberaeron Swimming Pool, dine at The Hive and The Stubborn Duckling, or spend an afternoon at the beach. Venture further to Cardigan, home to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, a remarkable castle, and the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve. For a luxury getaway, choose Fronwig.

This delightful seaside town is one of the most popular holiday resorts all year round, and it is easy to see why when you stroll along the sea edge and enjoy the beautiful views. The lovely range of gift shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs offer all you need, while boat trips are a wonderful opportunity to spot the playful dolphins, seals and other rare animals and birds that inhabit the bay's sheltering waters. For the hands-on members of your party why not try sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, and power boating with expert tuition available? The famous poet, Dylan Thomas, penned many works with inspiration in New Quay including "Quite Early One Morning" and you can follow the Dylan Thomas trail around the town. Just 7 miles away is Aberaeron, a lively Georgian harbour town with multi-coloured cottages and a good selection of restaurants and inns. Stunning property, stunning views, everything that you need for a enjoyable stay in New Quay.

Bedrooms bright and airy Bathrooms smelly, maybe issues with drains, the far bedroom we didn’t use as en-suite smelt. Describes an adjoining bedroom with en-suite, there wasn’t one. No oven dishes for cooking which made doing family meals very difficult.

  • Janette

The location is perfect and surprisingly quiet in the height of peak season considering its proximity to the centre of New Quay
