Guests say

Seadrift Cottage in New Quay is praised for its stunning views and fantastic location, particularly for watching dolphins. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere and the property's proximity to the beach and local amenities. The unique layout and the sound of waves add to the charm, though accessibility may be an issue for some due to steep stairs.

Most guests did not comment on cleanliness, but one mentioned the need to clean kitchenware before use. This suggests that cleanliness is generally satisfactory, with room for improvement.

The location is consistently lauded for its proximity to the beach, local eateries, and the opportunity to observe marine life, making it a highlight for many guests.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, especially with the log burner. However, some mention the challenge of steep stairs and the need for more comfortable outdoor seating.

The kitchen is well-equipped, but guests noted missing items like a tin opener and suggested improvements in bathroom safety. The parking cost discrepancy and maintenance issues like a curtain needing repair were also mentioned.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Seadrift is so aptly named as it sits overlooking the sea in the pretty town of New Quay. One of a row of terraced cottages built in 1836 for the local fishermen, Seadrift is now comfortable holiday accommodation for up to six people. On the ground floor as you enter the cottage you will find a double bedroom and the family bathroom with bath and shower over. The original old stone staircase leads you down to the lower ground floor and into the characterful living and dining room and through to the well equipped kitchen. The living room has original beams and a wonderful wood burner for cosy nights by the fire, French doors take you out on to the patio where there are two terraces on different levels overlooking the sea. Whether you sit inside or out, you will be mesmerised just watching the ever changing seascape and maybe see some dolphins! Upstairs there are two further bedrooms; a double room with a sea view and a room with a single bed.

Just a short stroll will bring you into New Quay itself, a quaint town and the inspiration for Dylan Thomas’s writing when he lived here. You can follow in his footsteps on a marked trail around the higgledy piggledy town. There are independent shops and a good selection of restaurants, pubs and café’s as well as the obligatory seaside fish and chip shops. Take your fish and chips or an ice cream down to the harbour wall and watch the fishing boats in the bay or take a dolphin watching trip to get closer to the resident pods of bottlenose dolphins. From the sea you will appreciate how New Quay clings to the rocks and you see the three resplendent town beaches, all with soft sand. You can take your dogs on two of the beaches all year round and it’s not just your pets that will have a great time; fishing and watersports enthusiasts will love it here too!

If you can tear yourself away from New Quay there are plenty of other options for exploring, including 60 miles of coastline and the coastal path. There are secluded coves at Cwmtydu where seals come to have their pups in the autumn, and at Llangrannog you can enjoy the view from two coastal pubs. New Quay Honey Farm and tea rooms are worth a visit and the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is a 10-minute drive. Just outside Aberaeron you’ll find the National Trust property of Llanerchaeron. The coastal towns of Aberystwyth and Cardigan are also within very easy reach or venture inland to the market towns of Lampeter, Tregaron and Newcastle Emlyn.

Come for a short break or come for a longer holiday and enjoy this area and make Seadrift your home. Beach 175 yards. Shop 175 yards, pub and restaurant 130 yards.

Lovely cottage in a wonderful location. Warm and cosy with the sea literally at the bottom of the patio. The area was peaceful with a lovely sandy beach just a short walk away for the dog. Very helpful owners and the icing on the cake was seeing the dolphins from the kitchen window.Would love to stay again.

We had an enjoyable stay at Seadrift. The location is spot-on you can stroll to the beach and wander to the nearby cafés. Now, the check-in and check-out times lets just say theyre ambitious. A 5pm check-in and 9am check-out meant we spent almost as long packing and unpacking as we did relaxing. If you're hoping for a luxurious lie-in or even a mildly leisurely morning think again! The house has a quirky layout, and outdoor space with a great view. Unfortunately, it did feel a bit on the unclean side. We ended up giving the cutlery, plates, pots, and pans a proper clean before using them. That said, we did enjoy drifting off to sleep with the sound of waves crashing in the background. Despite its flaws, we did have a good stay but unles the check-in/check-out times get friendlier we won't be staying again.

Fantastic location and the views were stunning.Only things that I would improve on based on the cost would the Bathroom needs a slip mat in the bath as my partner slipped and was heavily bruised.Kitchen did not have a tin opener. But would highly recommend based on value for money.
