Seadrift in New Quay is highly praised for its unbeatable location and breathtaking sea views, with many guests enjoying dolphin spotting and easy access to beaches and the town centre. The cottage is described as cosy and well-equipped, making it ideal for a relaxing getaway. While the steep stairs and early check-out may not suit everyone, and there are occasional minor maintenance or cleanliness issues, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, though a few mentioned areas that could have been cleaner, such as kitchenware and some parts of the cottage. These were minor issues and did not significantly detract from the overall experience.
The location is consistently described as fantastic, with stunning sea views, proximity to the beach, and easy access to the town centre. Guests particularly enjoyed the peaceful setting and the opportunity to watch dolphins from the property.
Guests found the cottage warm, cosy, and the beds comfortable. The sound of the sea was a highlight for many. However, the steep stairs posed a challenge for those with mobility issues, and some mentioned the need for more comfortable outdoor seating.
The cottage is generally well-equipped, with most essentials provided. Some guests noted missing items like a tin opener, slip mat, or extra hooks, and suggested improvements to the garden seating. Maintenance issues such as a loose curtain and lack of towel hooks were also mentioned.
While guests appreciated the dog-friendly nature and helpful owners, there were suggestions for more thoughtful touches such as condiments, extra toilet rolls, and welcome items. No mention of gifts was made, so these cannot be guaranteed.

Seadrift is so aptly named as it sits overlooking the sea in the pretty town of New Quay. One of a row of terraced cottages built in 1836 for the local fishermen, Seadrift is now comfortable holiday accommodation for up to four people. On the ground floor as you enter the cottage you will find a double bedroom and the family bathroom with bath and shower over. The original old stone staircase leads you down to the lower ground floor and into the characterful living and dining room and through to the well equipped kitchen. The living room has original beams and a wonderful wood burner for cosy nights by the fire, French doors take you out on to the patio where there are two terraces on different levels overlooking the sea. Whether you sit inside or out, you will be mesmerised just watching the ever changing seascape and maybe see some dolphins! Upstairs there are two further bedrooms; a double room with a sea view and a room with a single bed.
Just a short stroll will bring you into New Quay itself, a quaint town and the inspiration for Dylan Thomas’s writing when he lived here. You can follow in his footsteps on a marked trail around the higgledy piggledy town. There are independent shops and a good selection of restaurants, pubs and café’s as well as the obligatory seaside fish and chip shops. Take your fish and chips or an ice cream down to the harbour wall and watch the fishing boats in the bay or take a dolphin watching trip to get closer to the resident pods of bottlenose dolphins. From the sea you will appreciate how New Quay clings to the rocks and you see the three resplendent town beaches, all with soft sand. You can take your dogs on two of the beaches all year round and it’s not just your pets that will have a great time; fishing and watersports enthusiasts will love it here too!
If you can tear yourself away from New Quay there are plenty of other options for exploring, including 60 miles of coastline and the coastal path. There are secluded coves at Cwmtydu where seals come to have their pups in the autumn, and at Llangrannog you can enjoy the view from two coastal pubs. New Quay Honey Farm and tea rooms are worth a visit and the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is a 10-minute drive. Just outside Aberaeron you’ll find the National Trust property of Llanerchaeron. The coastal towns of Aberystwyth and Cardigan are also within very easy reach or venture inland to the market towns of Lampeter, Tregaron and Newcastle Emlyn.
Come for a short break or come for a longer holiday and enjoy this area and make Seadrift your home. Beach 175 yards. Shop 175 yards, pub and restaurant 130 yards.

The pictures don't do the view justice! Amazing place to sit and relax. Spotted dolphins in the bay most days. Short walk to the beaches and into the town, with plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from - however, not a huge amount else there. Car park is actually £7 a day, with no option to purchase multiple days so you have to remember to renew it each day (can do it via app). Property was nice and had everything we needed. Steep stairs to get down to the living room and kitchen, so may not be great for children or people with limited mobility. Could have been cleaner in some places, but nothing major. Was lovely to sleep to the sound of the sea. Would definitely come again.

Lovely cottage in a wonderful location. Warm and cosy with the sea literally at the bottom of the patio. The area was peaceful with a lovely sandy beach just a short walk away for the dog. Very helpful owners and the icing on the cake was seeing the dolphins from the kitchen window.Would love to stay again.
