A true gem for rail enthusiasts, this Victorian railway station consists of the Station House (ref HW7742) (the former station master’s house), and Porter’s Lodge (ref HW7806), in a peaceful village setting. They sit right alongside the Llangollen Heritage Steam Railway, which winds its way through the delightful scenery of the Dee Valley between Llangollen and Corwen. Station House enjoys a pretty cottage garden, and is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season. Porter’s Lodge has a seating area adjacent to the delightfully restored station platform, where you can sit with a glass of wine and watch the trains go by. This is a perfect location to explore the surrounding area, with great walking, bird watching and myriad outdoor activities nearby. Llangollen, home to the International Musical Eisteddfod, has lovely walks along the canal and over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Erddig and Chirk Castle (NT) are close by and Snowdonia National Park is within easy reach. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 0. 5 miles.. Second time to porters lodge and already booked for April next year it is such a perfect place for trains and days out and food the lodge is so well kept and everything you need a perfect relaxing break 500 yards from the beautiful river dee perfect spot
