Hillside Retreat in Prestatyn is highly praised for its stunning views, spacious and comfortable interiors, and helpful hosts. Guests appreciate the peaceful location and proximity to local amenities. While most found the property clean and well-equipped, a few noted minor maintenance issues and occasional cleaning oversights. The steps up to the house may be challenging for some, but most felt the views made it worthwhile. Overall, guests enjoyed relaxing stays and would happily return or recommend the property.
Most guests found the property clean and comfortable, though a few mentioned needing to clean on arrival or noted issues such as an unpleasant smell and a dirty oven. These were exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is frequently described as fantastic, with beautiful views, a quiet setting, and convenient access to shops and attractions. The hillside position and steps are noted, but generally not seen as a major drawback.
Guests consistently mention the spaciousness, comfortable beds, and relaxing atmosphere. The house is described as warm and well-suited for groups, with only minor comments about bedroom temperatures at night.
The property is well-equipped and modern, but some guests experienced issues with TVs, kitchen appliances, and minor maintenance. Most found everything they needed, though a few suggested improvements such as more instructions and kitchen items.
Hosts are described as helpful and responsive. Some guests would have appreciated small touches like milk or extra loo rolls on arrival, but these are not guaranteed and should not be expected.

A high end finish provides sumptuous comfort throughout. It’s an upside-down property, so the bedrooms are downstairs – the master bedroom has two walk in wardrobes which open into the en-suite, whilst upstairs the open plan living area has bi-folding doors opening onto the balcony which runs the length of the front of the house, giving superb views over the town and out to sea which is about a mile away.
Meanwhile, from upstairs there is a door to the garden which has a fantastic private decked area with garden furniture, perfect for al fresco dining or relaxing with a glass of wine.
Prestatyn town centre is a short walk away and offers full facilities with a wide choice of shops and supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, whilst the Nova Centre offers swimming and soft play, the Scala Cinema shows some of the latest film releases all year round.
The sandy beach is also just down the road – so don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade! Walkers will love the area, with plenty of choice. Prestatyn is at the end of the Offa’s Dyke footpath which runs all the way to Chepstow in South Wales – though shorter walks are also available!
From Prestatyn, it’s not far across the border, either by car or train, to the city of Chester. Great for a day out, this historic city has much to offer from its famous Rows to the beautiful cathedral and city walls. In the other direction, the A55 will whisk you towards Llandudno, the Queen of Welsh Resorts. Here you’ll find the Great Orme, rising to 679 feet above sea level, with the UK’s longest cable car ride, the unique Great Orme Tramway, and a Bronze Age Copper Mine.
Nearer to home is Rhuddlan Castle one of Edward I ring of North Wales castles, and the tiny city of St Asaph, home to Wales smallest cathedral. The pretty village of Llanasa and the historic town of Ruthin, with its formerly fearsome Ruthin Gaol (they welcome visitors these days), and attractive architecture are also great places to visit. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Lovely property in a quiet hillside position with amazing view and sunsets. However, no instructions for kitchen appliance or heating hive, batteries were flat in the hive, some people may struggle to sort this. Whole property in need of some TLC, window in main en suite doesnt open, curtains in main bedroom hanging off rings and very worn in second bedroom. Oven was filthy, doesnt look like the glass door has ever been cleaned and racks dirty, had to put food on foil. It is very good value but lacking in the finer details
