Guests say

Hillside Retreat in Prestatyn is highly praised for its stunning views, spaciousness, and comfort. Guests appreciate the proximity to local amenities and the helpfulness of the hosts, Terri and Paul. While some minor issues are mentioned, the overall experience is one of relaxation and enjoyment in a beautiful Welsh setting.

Most guests found the property clean and comfortable. However, one review mentioned the need for additional cleaning upon arrival, slightly lowering the score.

The location is celebrated for its fabulous views and convenience to shops and restaurants. The hillside position and steps are noted, but they contribute to the property's charm and are not a significant deterrent.

Guests consistently describe the property as comfortable, with ample space and a warm atmosphere. The cooler bedrooms are mentioned, but this does not detract significantly from the overall comfort.

The property is well-equipped and generally well-maintained, though some guests reported minor issues with TV signal and suggested additional amenities like window coverings and a frying pan.

There are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate the level of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

A high end finish provides sumptuous comfort throughout. It’s an upside-down property, so the bedrooms are downstairs – the master bedroom has two walk in wardrobes which open into the en-suite, whilst upstairs the open plan living area has bi-folding doors opening onto the balcony which runs the length of the front of the house, giving superb views over the town and out to sea which is about a mile away.

Meanwhile, from upstairs there is a door to the garden which has a fantastic private decked area with garden furniture, perfect for al fresco dining or relaxing with a glass of wine.

Prestatyn town centre is a short walk away and offers full facilities with a wide choice of shops and supermarkets, pubs and restaurants, whilst the Nova Centre offers swimming and soft play, the Scala Cinema shows some of the latest film releases all year round.

The sandy beach is also just down the road – so don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade! Walkers will love the area, with plenty of choice. Prestatyn is at the end of the Offa’s Dyke footpath which runs all the way to Chepstow in South Wales – though shorter walks are also available!

From Prestatyn, it’s not far across the border, either by car or train, to the city of Chester. Great for a day out, this historic city has much to offer from its famous Rows to the beautiful cathedral and city walls. In the other direction, the A55 will whisk you towards Llandudno, the Queen of Welsh Resorts. Here you’ll find the Great Orme, rising to 679 feet above sea level, with the UK’s longest cable car ride, the unique Great Orme Tramway, and a Bronze Age Copper Mine.

Nearer to home is Rhuddlan Castle one of Edward I ring of North Wales castles, and the tiny city of St Asaph, home to Wales smallest cathedral. The pretty village of Llanasa and the historic town of Ruthin, with its formerly fearsome Ruthin Gaol (they welcome visitors these days), and attractive architecture are also great places to visit. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Beautiful house views fantastic the only thing was the steps up to the house but worth it. Would stay again.

Lovely position - fabulous view. The house is spacious, comfortable and well-equipped. Loved the dressing rooms in the main bedroom. Decor not my thing, but I expect lots of people would like it.There was an unpleasant smell in the hall (perhaps it was pet accident smell that someone had tried to mask?), and we had to do quite a bit of cleaning on arrival, which spoiled our enjoyment of it a bit. Also found the internet TV a bit annoying.Nonetheless, we had a lovely time - Prestatyn was a great place to be based with some nice restaurants, and North Wales is just beautiful.

We stayed here for a weekend and loved our time in Wales. The house is very beautiful and got a stunning view, the walks are amazing and the shops are close by for anything needed. The hosts Terri and Paul are very lovely, I would come back one day and would recommend it for sure.
