Guests say

Guests consistently praise Maelgwyn for its well-equipped facilities, high standard of furnishings, and excellent location close to the beach and local amenities. The property is described as clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated, making it a perfect holiday home. The housekeeper, Emma, is mentioned for her helpfulness, and the property is recommended for both family and group stays.

The property's location is highly praised for its proximity to the beach, local shops, and attractions. It is described as perfect and ideal, suggesting guests are extremely satisfied with the setting.

Comfort is a recurring theme, with guests noting the property's spaciousness, comfortable furnishings, and well-equipped living areas. The beds, in particular, are mentioned for their comfort.

Facilities are generally regarded as superb, with a well-stocked kitchen and social spaces. However, a few minor quibbles about a kettle and a shower issue prevent a perfect score.

While the reviews reflect a well-thought-out property with attention to detail, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category.

About this property

This stunning terraced holiday house, just a stone's throw from the beach, is more like a boutique hotel than a holiday house. If you wish, we will deliver cooked meals to you - so a boutique hotel it could be! Beautifully presented, Maelgwyn is bright and chirpy and at the same time sophisticated, calm and relaxing. A great house for special occasions or Christmas and New Year get-togethers!

The sitting room is comfy and relaxing, with wooden floors, a living flame gas fire, leather sofas, and a flat screen TV and CD player. If you want to have a little peace and quiet, double doors take you through to a second, smaller sitting room with a CD player.

The bright and contemporary kitchen has a bistro feel with its gingham tablecloth, interesting tiling, wooden floors and a TV on the wall. It is equipped for serious cooks with two Neff Ovens and a Nef induction hob, American fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and radio.

A new glass roof in the kitchen extension really lets the light flood in and bounce off the piano gloss grey doors - gorgeous!

From the kitchen, a door leads out to a lovely courtyard with a table and seating for eight people. This is a little sun trap where you can enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms, both with brass king-size beds. The second room has a pretty bay window with views down to the beach. On the second floor are two twin rooms with iPod docking stations. The gorgeous knitted cushions and the interesting colours and textiles give it a homely touch. You can lie in bed here and look over to Criccieth castle.

The panelled bathroom has a bath with separate shower, wash hand basin and loo. There is also a separate loo and basin. The twin rooms share a further bathroom with a bath with shower over, loo and wash hand basin.

The owners have taken such care in renovating and restoring the house. The careful colour schemes combined with wooden floors, contemporary bathrooms, and a bright and fun kitchen.

It's just a short stroll to the beach, where there are spectacular views across the sea to Harlech with the backdrop of the hills behind. Day or night, this view is amazing!

The fine seaside town of Criccieth retains a wonderful old-fashioned charm whilst still being contemporary. The butcher offers local produce, and the fantastic Idris Bakery supplies the Portmeirion chefs!

With excellent restaurants, pubs and cafes, Criccieth is a lovely place to relax and enjoy a break or holiday at any time of the year - and Maelgwyn is perfectly located for the town and surrounding attractions.

Often described as the 'Pearl of Wales on the shores of Snowdonia’, this delightful seaside town is situated just 5 miles from Porthmadog. The town’s 13th century castle perches majestically on a rocky outcrop, dominating the skyline and offering superb views of Tremadog Bay and the Snowdonia mountains. Watersports enthusiasts will be delighted by the two beaches, whilst walkers and bikers are spoilt for choice by the proximity of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park. Stroll along the beaches, watch porpoises playing in the surf, or relax in the various pubs, restaurants and tea rooms, sampling the famous Cadwalader’s ice cream. Further afield, attractions such as Portmeirion’s wonderful Italianate gardens, the Ffestiniog railway in Porthmadog, Harlech Castle, Caernarfon Castle and the beautiful beaches and renowned golf courses of the Llyn Peninsula are all within an easy drive.

Really comfortable beds, great bathrooms, and brilliant location next to the sea. We had some rainy days but the kids loved the well stocked toy cupboard. Would definitely stay again.
