DISGUSTEDAvoid this place at all costs. Disgusting standards and service.Have never been so disgusted and disappointed in equal measure. My daughter had been looking forward all year to her holiday. This is what she got:The property and grounds seem pleasant enough on first sight. However, as we approached with our bags, there were bags of dog poo left by the front door. On entering we were greeted with a strip of fly paper loaded with dead flies. We should have turned on our heels then, but we thought, let’s give things a chance (while we were gagging). There were layers of grime on everything such as light switches, handles, taps, etc. Old rusting radiators and dirt, and grime in every corner. Sofas and wardrobes smell so bad we didn't want to sit on them or sleep in the beds. Mattresses so thin all you can feel are the bed springs. The bedding was worn and yellowing. There was crusted red sauce on one of the plates. No basic appliances such as a hairdryer. There was no wifi, and when we asked for help from the owners we were told it’s been reported. We then noted previous reviews citing the same issue. The tv wasn’t working. On trying to report everything to the owners the lack of wifi meant we couldn’t call or text them. The stench of must from the wardrobes was overpowering. We left our clothes in our suitcases. There was no welcome pack which is standard in holiday homes as they are more expensive than hotels. The sofas were stinking, made of extremely thin material, no back support, and felt as though they would have been second-hand 30 years ago. The door handles, lights, and even the keys were rusted. The bathroom was basic and poor. The towels were grey, thin, and hard as cardboard. There was a large enclosed garden for the dog but the outdoor lights weren’t working. The garden furniture looked rotten (and particularly one chair) just collapsed under the touch. There was a storm due and we didn’t fancy sitting in a smelly, uncomfortable, grimy house without wifi or tv (or at all). Even when we arrive, our parking area was blocked by bins, which we had to move. We were sick to the stomach and couldn’t stand the thought of spending even one night there. We put all our suitcases back in the car and left in the early hours of the morning. When we spoke to the owner (on our return home) he said we should have contacted him and he would have got the cleaners back. We couldn’t contact him as there was no signal! This was not merely a cleaning issue (although the standard of ‘cleanliness’ was disgusting) this was the whole package. Old (not in a charming way) smelly, cheap, ancient furniture and the whole place just made your skin crawl. The owner offered a paltry 5% refund which wouldn’t even have covered the cost of our petrol. As said before, avoid this place at all costs. Disgusting standards.
