About this property

Ger Y Traeth is an open-plan house, set in the Pembrokeshire National Park, nestled by the seaside in Pwllgwaelod near Dinas Cross, Pembrokeshire. Ideally suited for a family and one doting dog, this detached property sleeps six people across four bedrooms, boasts sea and hill views, and comes equipped with off-road parking, pool table, and a collection of canoes – free for guests to enjoy in the nearby sheltered bay and beyond! Discover the house through a secret garden-like pathway, crossing the enclosed lawn space to reach your homely nook. Shake off your adventure-stained boots in the porch before entering the games area and open-plan kitchen/diner, supplied with a gas oven and hob, fridge/freezer, toaster, and kettle. Dig in at the dining table six, hosted by the picturesque countryside through floor-to-ceiling windows. On those warmer evenings, enjoy dessert at the patio dining outside and immerse yourself in the views. While the dishwasher cleans up, challenge your loved ones to a board game or round of pool or cosy up with a book by the open fire in the living area. Scrub off the stubborn sand that followed you home in the shower room’s walk-in shower or bathroom’s bath - the washing machine in the utility will take care of your clothes! When sleep calls, a single bed with a cloakroom welcomes you on the ground floor, while three double beds and a family bathroom wait to greet you on the first floor, where promos for tomorrow’s fun are framed in a sea view or watch the sunset. Fun is never far in Pwllgwaelod – carry your canoes the short walk to the beach, walk across the peninsula to Cwm-yr-Eglwys sheltered bay, take the coastal path around Dinas Island headland where you are often rewarded with views of seals, or take your four-legged friend to the nearby town of Newport, where walks filled with history wait at Carreg Coetan Arthur and Carn Cwn Wishing Well. A little further afield sits Fishguard, a coastal town boasting scenic views from Saddle Point and Gorsedd Circle. Explore the Historic Remains of the Old Town of Caerau, before adventuring deeper at the Sea Trust Ocean Lab Aquarium. Or take that short drive to Cardigan and treat the animal lover to the Welsh Wildlife Centre, admire Cardigan Castle, and then finish the day in style with dinner under a tipi at Pizzatipi! St David’s Cathedral is about 45 minutes away with regular evensong in a beautiful setting and Strumble Head Lighthouse is a similar distance, where your chances of seeing a seal or two are very high. Boat trips are available at both St Davids and Cardigan Bay. Whatever your Welsh adventures, Ger Y Traeth will welcome you home.

The bustling town of Newport is situated on the banks of the navigable River Medina, and is the county town and administrative capital of The Isle of Wight. It boasts a great shopping centre, with riverside walks and cafes, thriving arts centre and multiplex cinema, museums and parks. Being close to the centre of the island, Newport makes an excellent touring base with good road links to all the beaches, countryside and tourist attractions. Not to be missed are Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House, Queen Victoria's magnificent, Italianate summer home, the glorious beaches of Ryde, The Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Ventnor's Botanic Gardens, and The Needles. In fact there really is so much on offer, a week won't be nearly long enough!
