We had high hopes for this lodge, based on its on line photos, information provided by the owner and its location. Sadly, those hopes were dashed when we opened the lodge door to be greeted by a strong smell of dog. The lodge itself was grubby, needed a thorough deep clean and refurbishment. My wife would normally say "If you can't say anything good, don't say anything". But, in this case it needs saying. In comparison to the fabulous lodge we stayed at for the previous 4 nights, this very a very poor comparison, including value fir money.

Haroldson Lodge is in the most beautiful location. On the edge of Haroldston Woods, the coastal path is a short walk to the beach. The bluebells edging the path and all over the area made walking the dog magical. We saw rabbits, a lonely grouse and ducks in the grounds. The lodge itself is spacious and cosy at the same time. The only fault we could find was that the tv kept freezing, which was quite frustrating. Otherwise it was a perfect holiday.

Stayed at the lodge for the 2nd time, lovely base for walks, a beautiful setting, we had a small issue with slugs getting in which isn't pleasant but being so close to nature is unavoidable I suppose, also this time of year European Hornets active and we had one come through the vent in the kitchen, once again something that can't be helped but the size of those things! Cabin clean & comfortable otherwise, and so peaceful.
