Guests say

Dolwylan is a well-loved cottage praised for its comfort, stunning sea views, and excellent location. Guests appreciate the homely touches, spacious kitchen, and the addition of a new sunroom. The property's garden and proximity to local amenities and scenic walks add to its charm. While some guests mention maintenance issues and a musty smell, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.

Most guests found Dolwylan comfortable and welcoming. However, a few mentioned a musty smell and housekeeping oversights, such as a lack of fresh towels and a securely locking door, which suggests room for improvement in cleanliness and readiness for new arrivals.

The location is highly praised for its sea views, quietness, and proximity to the village, coast, and local amenities. Guests enjoyed the scenic area and the short distance to walks and pubs, making it an ideal base for exploring Pembrokeshire.

The majority of guests found the property very comfortable, with special mentions of comfortable beds and a homely atmosphere. The sea views from the master bedroom and sitting room were particularly appreciated. Some guests, however, found the beds and duvets less comfortable.

The property is well-equipped with a new kitchen and sunroom, and guests enjoyed the private back garden. Some guests experienced issues with appliance instructions, Wi-Fi connectivity, and general maintenance, indicating a need for attention to detail in facilities and maintenance.

While guests enjoyed the homely touches and provision of basic culinary items, there are no specific mentions of gifts or special thoughtful gestures that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

It’s a wonderful property with a great layout, lovely views and superb location although it’s a shame they have still made no real effort to enclose the garden. The owners have, however, been badly let down by the housekeeping team. In no particular order: Door from kitchen to garden doesn’t lock, was unlocked when we arrived and another door has no handle. No duvet cover on duvet in main bedroom, part used loo rolls on holders, 1 tiny towel each with no hand towel or bath mat, coffee in jar set solid, no tea bags, no welcome pack, less than half a basket of logs and a musty smell on arrival. It felt very much like the house was got ready 3 weeks previously when the last set of guests checked out. Very poor standards and not acceptable for the price charged.

But for us,the overpowering and unpleasant smell of mustiness everywhere except the kitchen, which could not be dispelled with heating on, woodburner lit, incense, and windows open, was too much. We left after three days.

  • Frederick

There was a smell of damp when we opened the front door We thought that the duvets on the beds were too heavy and beds weren’t that comfortable No milk left to make a cup of tea when we arrived ,but position of bungalow excellent and very quiet
