Guests say

Little Barn Cottage is a well-received holiday rental with a few areas for improvement. Guests praise its comfortable furnishings, welcoming touches, and beautiful location close to beaches and local walks. While some guests mention issues with flies and a manure pile, the overall sentiment is positive, highlighting the property's tranquility and suitability for a peaceful getaway.

The property generally receives positive remarks on cleanliness, with several reviews noting it as clean and well-presented. However, there are instances of cleanliness concerns, such as unclean baking trays and a fly problem, which slightly lower the score.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to beaches and scenic walks, contributing to a high score. The peaceful and beautiful setting is a consistent highlight among guests.

Comfort is well-regarded, with mentions of a comfortable bed and furnishings. Some guests, however, found the mattresses in the twin room uncomfortable and the downstairs flies bothersome, which affects the score.

Facilities are generally appreciated, especially the well-equipped kitchen and smart TV. Criticisms include the lack of an ice compartment in the fridge and issues with the gas fire, which impact the score.

Guests appreciate the thoughtful welcome pack, which includes snacks and milk. While these gifts are well-received, it is noted that such amenities are subject to availability and not guaranteed.

The cardboard and recycling bag in the kitchen was half full of previous visitors papers. Empty wine bottles in the orange bin provided in cupboard (I did move them into the bin outside with the green lid). Lots of hair and fluff between cushions on both sofas which we put in the Ash Bucket by the fire. That bucket hadn't been emptied and was about 1/4 full. The Meat tins and baking trays in the oven were in a disgusting state (I have taken photos) When i turned the oven on to cook a pizza on opening the door after waiting to get warm a huge cloud of smoke and fumes greeted me and it actually stung my eyes and was very irritating. I feel the oven needs a deep clean and the baking trays need replacing. The day before departure I went to the bin with the green lid to put our black rubbish bag and empty blue recycling bag. Not easy access to open the doors on this bunker style bin (I'm not very tall so could not reach inside very easily) The bunker was quite full of black bags and when I tried to move one it started to tear and banana skins almost came out. The main recycling bag at the very bottom was virtually empty apart from a cardboard toilet roll which appeared to have been nibbled by something. With the amount of rubbish still in the bunker I feel it could encourage little unwelcome visitors. We hadn't got much rubbish at all, only half a black bag and I disposed of it in the bin on the caravan park, although I am aware you're not supposed to. Apart from the above, we had a wonderful time and Little Barn is a perfect location for visiting relatives and lots of places to visit and would return in the future.

Unfortunately when we arrived it had not been cleaned and we were met with dirty bed linen and towels. After a nine hour car journey this was so disappointing as we just wanted to relax. After reporting this the cleaners came and did a quick whizz round offering to leave the hoovering and dusting which i declined and asked them to do it. Later we noticed that there were old dirty marks on the single bed sheet and bleach marks on the towel. No mopping took place on hard floors either. The cottage suffers from damp which is evident in places and the bed quilt felt damp even though the heating is good. Lack of attention to little things such as the two tin openers did not work and a knife had no point to it. The muck heap opposite the front door didn't bother us much at this time of year until the farmer came to move a couple of loads of it which left mud/muck outside and i noticed he broke up some of the concrete with his tractor. Had to move our car and go out for fear of being blocked in while he did this. When the lack of cleanliness was reported, the caretaker offered us 50.00 for 3 of us to go for dinner but we were too tired to go out after our journey unfortunately so couldn't take it up. The welcome pack was nice and appreciated. There were no logs but caught the cleaners as they left and asked them for some. They left some but we couldnt light the log burner and there were no instructions anywhere as we are not used to log burners.

Lovely lounge/comfy beds and a well appointed Kitchen. Had some lovely walks around Dina’s Cross to beaches and to view points. Cheesecake at shop/garage was a real hit with kids. Only negative was no outside hanging area for wet wetsuits/swimming gear … could a retractable line down side of property be possible?
