This characterful cottage with breathtaking views across the Usk Valley is ideal for couples, families or friends looking for a relaxing holiday close to the Black Mountains and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). This property opens directly onto the Beacons Way, so walkers can enjoy discovering this magnificent landscape from the doorstep. The property lies on the outskirts of the pretty hamlet of Cwmdu, where you will find a charming pub, tearooms, an art gallery and the AstroCamp, ideal for budding stargazers. Nearby Llangorse Lake (8 miles) is a must-visit spot whether you want to walk, kayak, paddleboard, hire a rowing boat or watch for otters, voles and other wildlife.

A garden path leads from the lane up to this lovely two-storey cottage. Steps lead to a charming stable-style door which opens into the porch and kitchen. The delightful contemporary kitchen is a pleasure to cook in, and it has all the appliances to make meal preparation a breeze. With oak beams crossing the ceiling, the charming dining room features a long dining table; linger over meals and plan adventures. The lounge is a cosy space to gather with a SkyTV, a wood burner set in a large inglenook fireplace, exposed oak ceiling beams and plenty of comfortable seating. There is a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs, you''ll find two bedrooms – one king-size with a roll-top bath and a twin (please note, both bedrooms have low-sloping ceilings, timber flooring, and traditional ledge and brace doors). Outside is a charming cottage garden, extensive lawn, and stone terrace with plenty of garden furniture perfect for dining alfresco. Parking is available on the lane below the house.

Walkers and hikers should head 11 miles to tackle the National Trust Sugar Loaf, one of the highest peaks in the Black Mountains, and explore the scenic Usk Valley. History buffs will enjoy discovering the Big Pit National Coal Museum and Blaenavon World Heritage Centre, which are less than 15 miles away. The market town of Brecon (12 miles) is the gateway to canal boat trips, hiking and climbing activities to suit all ages and abilities.

    A wonderful cottage, in a fantastic location. Perfect base for some dog walks and day trips, and the cottage itself was very welcoming and cosy. The campsite down the road sold a lovely variety of products, and the staff were very friendly and helpful
