The Cottage is in the most beautiful location and only 15/20mins drive to Newtown or Welshpool for the bigger supermarkets etc. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage itself was extremely spacious and on the whole well equipped. We had to purchase darts for the dartboard (which we left) and just a small issue for us was that the property was advertised as detached. However there is an additional holiday let attached to the house. When the other guests are out this does impact your privacy a little especially in regards to the hot tub. Not the end of the world but not what we expected. Cleaning could be a little more thorough. But would definitely recommend and would love to go back.

Quirky but needs TLCTh Cottage has several plus marks, nice location, a 12 minutes walk to the centre, albeit uphill; nice garden and good facilities for children. But the problems are not insurmountable. There was no soap in the 3 bathrooms and I did ask for some, but didn’t appear and also asked for a parasol, which we got 3 days later. The can opener didn’t work and the scissors need replacing as handle is broken. The colander needs handles as handle fell off and burnt someone. The dartboard would be better with a spotlight and there were no usable darts. There was no ball for the football table; and the pool table pockets need more tape.In one bedroom the socket for a hairdryer is on the opposite side of the room to the mirror. In another bedroom a bedside light is decoration only as no socket nearby. The BBQ hadn't been cleaned and was filthy, and also the bolt was loose.Other suggestions are bigger wine glasses as they are very small and perhaps some tumblers, useful for children drinks. There is a sign saying mind the steps as you walk from the lounge into the sporting area and black/yellow tape; but there are other steps where there is no tape and some would be useful.I appreciate that for some people, you might think this is a little picky, but the potential is there to make it much better. I have tried to include some pictures to further explain, but the review form doesn’t allow it.

I spent 4 nights at The Cottage with a group of friends for my 50th birthday and had a really lovely time. Some additional family members joined us for one of the afternoons. The kitchen, dining and living room areas were plenty spacious enough for us all. The BBQ (which I don’t remember seeing mentioned on the website?) came with some charcoal, though definitely bring extra if you’re feeding a big group!. The owner, Mike, was very friendly and was kind enough to drop off a bottle of Prosecco, some Welsh cakes and flowers when we arrived! The hot tub seemed a bit heavy on the chlorine at first, but was fine on the second night and was a very welcome addition. Whilst basic and in less than perfect condition, the pool table provided a great deal of fun for us all. The area is beautiful. It’s lovely being amidst the rolling hills of Wales and Shropshire. Whilst Montgomery is a small town with only a small-ish shop, nearby Welshpool (10-15 minute drive) has a large supermarket. My only really gripe is that there were quite a lot of flies in the kitchen. It’s probably a bad time of year for them and probably made worse due to the recent hot spells. There was no indication that this was due to any sort of a lack of cleanliness and the owners have taken various measures to mitigate this. All said, if I was staying in this area again with a group of friends, this would be a great place to come back to.
