About this property

Guilsfield 3 miles. Positioned in the quaint village of Pentrebeirdd near Guilsfield in Powys is The Marshes, a stone-fronted, single-storey cottage. Enjoying far-reaching, countryside views towards Welshpool, and an enclosed rear garden with a sweeping lawn, The Marshes offers six guests the ideal base for a rural escape, also featuring flexible sleeping arrangements and a homely interior. Travel down the gated driveway, arriving to ample private parking, before entering the property, firstly reaching the sitting room, adorning plush seating, a Smart TV, and a gas fire, where you can kick back and relax after a day of adventure. Venture through to the kitchen/diner, also complete with a well-equipped utility, where you can fulfil your self-catering needs; if you'd prefer to enjoy breat-taking vistas whilst dining and socialising, head outdoors to the enclosed rear garden. Catch some rest in one of three well-appointed bedrooms, including a double with en-suite shower room, a further double, and a twin (zip/link), all serviced by a bathroom. Awaken to a coffee upon the patio before grabbing your walking boots for a day of exploration, starting off at the Meifod Valley Alpacas, a favourite for families, before travelling into Welshpool, home to a local golf club, the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway Preservation, offering immersive tours of the town, the magnificent grounds of Powis Castle and Garden, and Llyn Coed y Dinas Nature Reserve, ideal for birdwatching and hiking. Within proximity to The Marshes, discover The Naissance Experience at Glansevern Hall Gardens, tour the Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (Montgomeryshire), offering nature-filled vistas all-year around, or embark on a trip towards Pistyll Rhaeadr, recognised as Britain's tallest single-drop waterfall. Complete your getaway with a visit to Shrewsbury, brimming with pubs, eateries, and shops, along with the chance to explore Shrewsbury Prison, Shrewsbury Cathedral, and the ruins of Shrewsbury Abbey, or head west and opt for a day at Snowdonia National Park, dotted with beauty spots. Experience all of this at The Marshes.

This charming community, Guilsfield, is home to two pubs, a church from the 12th century, and typical black and white dwellings. Three miles from the Welsh/English border, nestled in the upper reaches of the lovely Severn Valley and surrounded by rolling hills and gorgeous, unspoiled countryside, is Welshpool, a lively market town. In addition to the reconstructed cock fighting pit and intriguing Heritage Trail in the town centre, Welshpool has a distinctive mix of stores selling arts and crafts, fashion, and leisure activities. Visit the famed Dingle Gardens, the 13th-century Powis Castle, the Llanfair Light Railway, take a trip on the Montgomery Canal, or take beautiful walks and bike rides along Offa's Dyke and the National Trails.
