Penlan is a charming, characterful cottage in a stunning location, ideal for walkers and those seeking peace and beautiful views. Guests consistently praise its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and proximity to Beddgelert village and local walks. The cottage’s nostalgic touches and enclosed garden are much appreciated. While some mention minor maintenance issues and the lack of WiFi, most find these outweighed by the tranquil setting and overall comfort. The property is well-equipped for a relaxing stay, with many guests eager to return.
Cleanliness is frequently highlighted, with many guests describing the cottage as spotless, immaculately clean, and tidy on arrival. Only rare minor comments were made, such as towels being rough or a rug being past its best, but these did not detract from the overall impression.
The location receives near-universal praise for its beautiful views, easy access to the village, and proximity to walks and local attractions. Guests love the peaceful setting and the convenience of being close to amenities, with many returning for the location alone.
Guests generally find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with special mention of the beds and the relaxing atmosphere. Some note the double bed is soft or the bunk creaky, and a few mention the cottage can be chilly in certain areas, but overall comfort is rated highly.
Facilities are described as generally good and adequate for a pleasant stay, with a well-equipped kitchen and enclosed garden. Some guests mention a lack of WiFi, minor maintenance issues (such as blown windows or a leaky skylight), and a desire for more outdoor seating or a washing machine, but these are balanced by positive comments about the essentials being provided.
A few guests mention that a small welcome pack or gift, such as milk or Welsh cakes, would have been appreciated, but note that these are not guaranteed. The information pack and nostalgic touches are valued, though the absence of welcome gifts is occasionally noted.

A charming, detached Beddgelert cottage, set in quiet woodland in an elevated position above the picturesque village of Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park. This Beddgelert cottage is affectionately known as Rupert Bear's Cottage in memory of the author and illustrator of the Rupert Bear stories, who lived there from 1956 to 1986. He gained his inspiration from the local countryside and wrote the Rupert Bear stories from here for many years. This secluded Beddgelert cottage has two bedrooms, a sitting/dining room, and a well-equipped kitchen area, both with exposed wooden beams. The gardens and woodland surrounding this Beddgelert holiday home provide peace and tranquillity, yet the cottage is only a 5-minute stroll into the centre of Beddgelert. There are miles of walking tracks around, some starting from outside the door of this Beddgelert cottage. Further afield are the beaches of Porthmadog, Italianate Portmeirion, castles at Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech and the coastline of the Llyn Peninsula. A fantastic Beddgelert cottage, in a great location at any time of the year.
Lying at the foot of Mount Snowdon, Beddgelert is situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. An easy stroll to the village, several places to eat. Buses every hour, no real need to use the car, you can relax and enjoy the views. A small âgiftâ from the owner sends a âWelcomeâ message, so we were a bit disappointed to get nothing. We would have been happy to receive a pint of milk and a packet of Welsh cakes. The glass units of the two front windows have âblownâ , which obscures the great view. The cottage deserves looking after as it is a gem.

There wasn't one thing I disliked. I would highly recommend.

We stayed last year and enjoyed it so much we came back again. Beautiful cottage and even though we had no complaints last year the new heating system made it even cosier and beautifully warm. Perfect way to get away from everything and a beautiful cottage
