About this property

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1.6 miles. Enveloped by the Eryri National Park, resting in Manod near Blaenau Ffestiniog is Pen Y Garth, a well-positioned, three-bedroom home. With proximity to a hub of amenities, attractions and beauty spots, Pen Y Garth offers a well-equipped home for a family of six, whilst also inviting three furry friends in tow. Park up on the roadside before making your way into your new, stone-fronted dwelling. Be welcomed into the sitting room, complete with plush sofas, a TV, and a lovely woodburning stove, encompassed by an original stone fireplace; use this space to unwind, socialise and play a board game or two. Travel into the kitchen/diner, complete with all the appliances to ease your self-catered stay, with a neighbouring outhouse, where you'll also find a washing machine, tumble dryer and storage space to store your walking gear. After dining indoors, head into the garden for a game of pool, before climbing up to the elevated lawned area to watch the sun set over Gwynedd. Catch some rest from one of three well-appointed bedrooms, including a king-size and two doubles, before awakening to a shower in the bathroom. Once you're ready to explore, head into Blaenau Ffestiniog to stock up on the essentials, before enjoying a fun-filled day out at the Zip World Llechwedd, with its Bounce Below attraction, perfect for all the family; whilst in the area, don your walking boots for a hike alongside Cwmorthin Waterfall, before enjoying a bite to eat at the Lakeside Cafe. Further hidden gems to explore across the national park include the Rhaeadr Y Graig Lwyd, Fairy Glen, and Rhaeadr Ewynnol Swallow Falls Waterfall, before heading to the coast for seaside vistas. Portmeirion village is a car journey away, brimming with independent shops and delightful eateries, whilst Porthmadog is a popular area, where you can board the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways, stroll along Morfa Bychan Beach, or wildlife watch across the North Wales Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve, before returning home in time for supper. Experience the delights of North Wales at Pen Y Garth.

Blaenau Ffestiniog, a wonderful old slate town, is ideally positioned to explore the Snowdonia National Park. There is a wide variety of stores, bars, and restaurants. One of the primary local draws is Zip World Slate Caverns, the longest and fastest zip line in the world and a fantastic underground adventure. Since unesco designated the slate mines as a world historic site, tourists can now take fascinating subterranean tours to witness mining as it was done in the past. 13 miles of the renowned narrow gauge Ffestiniog mountain railway also passes through the Snowdonia National Park on its way to Porthmadog, a harbour town.

The place was almost in the middle of the places we wanted to visit Porthmadog cricciciet etc. The owner was in good communication and kind not to charge us for the accidental breakage of the lampshade. A nice gesture to leave us couple packs of biscuits and stocks with tea and coffee tho we have brought our own.

Do not stay at this property it’s unclean and unsafe black mould everywhere no wood for fire floorboards upstairs a massive trip hazard dirty bed linen and you won’t get a refund

The cottage garden was poorly maintained. Long grass and no outside garden furniture. The steep steps were very dirty and slippy. The games room had a leaking roof and smelt very damp. Needs a lot of TLC if you were spending time there. For us it was just a base as we like to get out and explore beautiful North Wales.
