About this property

Abergynolwyn 2 miles. A charming, detached stone cottage, next to the owner’s home on their 1200-acre cattle and sheep hill farm, two miles from Abergynolwyn in Mid Wales. Set deep in the Dysynni Valley, alongside the river with beautiful views and tranquil birdsong, this lovely holiday home is a fantastic base for walkers. The cottage is accessed at the end of a long farm lane, with off road parking and a fenced lawned garden in a charming location beside the river. Inside are three welcoming living spaces, a bright, well-equipped modern kitchen, a dining room and a sitting room with a stunning stone fireplace housing a multi-fuel stove that commands the attention of the whole room. Patio doors open onto a crushed slate seating area – when the weather is warm, open the doors and relax to the sound of birdsong and the river rushing by. Upstairs are three good-size bedrooms, all with lovely views of the garden, river and hills beyond. The master bedroom has a king-size oak bed and the twin room is accessed via the second double room. The cottage is half of a traditional farmhouse and it has retained many of its beautiful features; exposed beams, a large stone fireplace and deep slate windowsills, all hint at the cottage’s origins. There are fantastic walks in the surrounding area, Dolgoch Falls are just four miles away and you can enjoy a trip on the Talyllyn Railway at Tywyn, to get a glimpse of this beautiful region from another perspective. In a lovely, rural location with wildlife and birdlife in abundance, Ty Popty is the perfect Welsh retreat!

The picturesque village of Abergynolwyn is situated in the beautiful Dysynni Valley within the Snowdonia National Park. Abergynolwyn makes a great base for a holiday and has something to offer everyone. Local attractions are numerous and include superb walking and cycling, fishing on the beautiful Tal-y-Llyn Lake and the famous Tal-y-Llyn Railway - an historic narrow-gauge steam railway with trains running from Tywyn (on the coast) to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol.
